LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Former Fox News firebrand Tucker Carlson went on a mea culpa spree on Monday, September 8, dishing out apologies to Donald Trump, Sen Ted Cruz (R-TX), and “everyone else I’ve snapped at” during a sit-down on 'Piers Morgan Uncensored'.

Morgan pressed Carlson on Trump’s claim that he had personally called to apologize after blasting US-Israeli strikes on Iran in June.

Tucker Carlson apologizes to everybody

“I am a champion apologizer. I really believe in apologies. I have a lot to apologize for, I always have. We all do. I certainly do,” Tucker Carlson admitted, before saying, “But I also think that, you know, you shouldn’t proffer a false apology.”

He continued, “You should apologize for things that you did wrong, you know, and I didn’t do anything wrong there, and I wasn’t attacking anybody. I wasn’t attacking Israel. I wasn’t attacking. I was merely saying, ‘In my capacity as someone with strong opinions, I think this is an unwise course.’ And I still think that. It’s not an attack on Trump, who I voted for and campaigned for and really like. It’s my view, and so that’s not something I would apologize for because it wasn’t wrong, it was my duty, and I still believe it.”

Morgan called that “a clear repudiation” of Trump’s version of events, but Carlson swatted that down too. “No, it’s not that. It’s just that, look, I said what I said, which wasn’t very complex or sophisticated. It certainly wasn’t hate-filled," he said.

Carlson painted himself as a hothead who knows when he crosses the line.

“You know, I will just be totally honest with you and say I’m kind of an unpleasant person when I get mad, and like if I’m ever rude, which I often have been to people, that is worth apologizing for, and I’m sorry,” he confessed. “I want to pre-emptively apologize for being a jerk because I often am.”

Morgan pushed again, asking if Carlson might have been apologizing for his tone with Trump rather than for his views.

Carlson responded, “I have no idea if I actually did that, but if I haven’t done that, let me do it now. I apologize to him and everyone else I’ve snapped at or been mean to, even poor Ted Cruz, who, you know, I don’t think is the most evil. He’s just controlled by a foreign power. I feel sorry for him, he’s like kind of desperate and wants money or whatever his motive is, but I was rude to him and I’m sorry.”

“I’m just that way. People in my family have pointed that out, when I get mad, I get snappy and cutting. I went to boarding school as a kid. They inculcate that in you. The cruelty of the dorm. And I’ve been fighting against it my whole life, so I’m just— I’m sorry," he added.

Tucker Carlson's Putin praise

Tucker Carlson’s humble-pie routine came just days after he swooned over Russian President Vladimir Putin. On 'The Tucker Carlson Show' last week, he told Michael Knowles he thinks Putin has been the “most effective leader” of his lifetime.

“Why is he more evil than Biden? I can’t even conceptualize that,” Carlson declared. “If you think Joe Biden was a better leader or a better man than Vladimir Putin, I don’t even know what to say to you because that’s insane.”

He argued that Putin’s people are “happier."

“By no measure did Joe Biden’s country, the people he solemnly swore to help and defend, did they thrive? No, they withered,” Carlson said. “Putin, who’s been there for 25 years, his country’s improved. The people are happier. They like him, actually.”

Knowles poked back, “The war’s been a little tough on Putin. I’d be curious about public opinion today this far into the war.”

Carlson added, “Actually, it’s measured a lot. Look it up.”
