WASHINGTON, DC: The United States has issued a security advisory urging its citizens in the Middle East to exercise increased caution as the region faces a fresh wave of military escalation.

The warning comes amid reports that Washington is preparing possible strikes on Iran as early as this weekend, while Tehran has intensified its rhetoric against Gulf nations hosting American military bases.

The developments unfolded alongside renewed violence in Gaza, drone interceptions over Kuwait, and fresh security incidents in the Strait of Hormuz and the Red Sea, highlighting the widening scope of instability across the region despite ongoing diplomatic efforts to secure a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas.

US and Iran trade fresh threats

According to sources familiar with the matter, the United States is considering new military action against Iran in the coming days. The reports surfaced as Iran renewed its warning to Gulf states that host US military installations.

Major Gen Ali Abdollahi cautioned that countries cooperating with Washington "will burn in the fires of war," signaling Tehran's readiness to expand the conflict if American military operations are launched from neighboring countries.

The exchange of threats has heightened concerns that the confrontation could spill beyond Israel and Gaza into a broader regional conflict.

Israel strikes Gaza despite ceasefire push

In Gaza, Israeli airstrikes overnight left a massive crater at a hospital, according to local authorities.

The latest attack came only days after President Donald Trump announced that Israel and Hamas had agreed to advance a ceasefire proposal, raising fresh doubts over the prospects for an immediate halt to hostilities.

The hospital strike adds to growing concerns over the humanitarian situation in the enclave, where repeated military operations have damaged civilian infrastructure. While ceasefire negotiations remain under discussion, violence on the ground has continued unabated.

Security concerns spread across Gulf and key shipping lanes

Regional security concerns extended beyond Gaza as Kuwait's armed forces said they intercepted Iranian drones that entered the country's airspace early Saturday morning, preventing any reported damage.

Meanwhile, the UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) reported that a tanker near the entrance to the Strait of Hormuz off the coast of Oman was struck by an "unknown projectile."

Separately, the European Union's naval mission ASPIDES said the Italian frigate Bergamini safely escorted a merchant vessel through the Red Sea, where commercial shipping continues to face threats from ongoing regional instability.
