Vin Diesel's sexual battery lawsuit: 'Fast & Furious' actor to face jury trial in August 2025
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Vin Diesel is set to face a jury trial for sexual battery lawsuit next year.
A judge of the Los Angeles Superior Court has scheduled the hearing for Asta Jonasson's lawsuit on August 18, 2025.
Who is Asta Jonasson?
Asta Jonasson is a former assistant of the ‘Fast & Furious’ star who started working with One Race Films in 2010. One Race Films is the production company of Vin Diesel.
Jonasson has also sued the actor’s sister Samantha Vincent, the president of Once Race Films.
The plaintiff was particularly hired for the ‘Fast 5’ project and its production took place in Georgia, as per the lawsuit.
Jonasson claimed that she was tasked to get Diesel out of a room full of women at the St Regis and make sure no one takes any photograph of the actor.
She alleges in her lawsuit that after all women left, Diesel forced himself on her and started groping her body, reports RadarOnline.
What did Asta Jonasson say about being fired from her job?
Asta Jonasson said that she was fired by Diesel’s sister after the incident which was possibly due to not giving in to the actor’s demand.
“For years, Ms Jonasson remained silent, afraid to speak out against one of the world’s highest-grossing actors, afraid she would be ostracized from the industry which had a pattern of protecting powerful men and silencing survivors of sexual harassment and assault," the lawsuit read.
“…and concerned that as a green card holder that speaking out could jeopardize her potential future citizenship,” it added.
“Empowered by the #MeToo and Time’s Up movements, and with the protection of the Speak Out Act and recent revival of her claims by AB2777, Ms Jonasson is unwilling to remain silent any longer and seeks to reclaim her agency and justice for the suffering she endured at the hands of Vin Diesel and One Race,” it continued.
What did Vin Diesel's legal team say?
In response to the allegations, Vin Diesel’s attorney defended his client saying, "Let me be very clear, Vin Diesel categorically denies this claim in its entirety. This is the first he has ever heard about this more than 13-year-old claim made by a purportedly 9-day employee. There is clear evidence which completely refutes these outlandish allegations.”
He also claimed that Jonasson consented to the actions for which she is now suing the actor.
“Defendant is informed and believes, and based thereon alleges, that the Complaint, and each and every cause of action stated therein, is barred by reason of Plaintiff’s consent,” the filing read.
Speaking about firing Jonasson, Diesel said that all actions "were taken in good faith for legitimate non-discriminatory purposes."
