LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The NFL season may be over, but the debate over Taylor Swift’s presence at games still lingers.

Since going public with her relationship with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce in 2023, Swift has been a frequent face in stadium suites. And while some fans love it, others are furious every time she appears on TV, WhiskeyRiff reported.

Vince Gill claps back at NFL fans annoyed by Taylor Swift's NFL screen time

In a recent interview with the Oklahoma Hall of Fame, country music star Vince Gill expressed his admiration for Swift, both as an artist and as a person. He recalled performing with her at the CMA Awards and praised her energy, but what really baffled him was the outrage surrounding her attending Chiefs games.

"I’ve always been crazy about her, and I just laugh when everybody gets so uptight when she goes to football games," Gill said.

He compared the situation to how networks frequently show team owners and high-profile figures in the stands. He said, "They don’t cut away to her as much as they do Jerry Jones at the Dallas Cowboys games what’s the big deal?"

Gill pointed to actual statistics, noting that despite the uproar, Swift was only shown for a total of 44 seconds during one game.

"In a three-and-a-half-hour ballgame? You’re uptight about that? Really? I don’t get it. The scrutiny that that much popularity is under is staggering."

Despite boos at the Super Bowl and ongoing complaints from “dads, Brads, and Chads,” Swift has made it clear she’s just there to support Kelce. She even addressed the backlash, saying she has no control over when cameras put her on TV.

“It’s just a girl that likes a guy, and they’re going to a ballgame,” Gill summed up.

Taylor Swift was booed at Super Bowl LIX

Taylor Swift was booed by the crowd at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans on February 9, 2025.

The pop icon was in attendance to support her boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, as his team faced off against the Philadelphia Eagles in their quest for a historic third consecutive Super Bowl championship.

However, as the stadium’s jumbotron flashed to Swift, a wave of boos erupted from the crowd. The moment quickly went viral, drawing a flood of reactions online.

Despite the Chiefs’ 22-40 loss, the biggest controversy of the night became the reception Swift received. Within hours, #WeLoveYouTaylor was trending on X (formerly Twitter) as fans rushed to defend the 14-time Grammy winner, condemning the reaction as misogynistic and unwarranted.
