Violet Affleck blasted as she reveals arguing with mom Jennifer Garner on climate change amid LA fires

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner’s daughter, Violet Affleck, recently opened up about the fierce clash she had with her famous mother over climate change during the life-threatening Los Angeles wildfire.

The 19-year-old Violet, who is a freshman at Yale University, wrote about the clash in an academic research paper published in the school’s Global Health Review on Sunday, May 18.

In her study paper, Violet criticized the behavior of the “wealthiest citizens” as a major driving force behind the “climate problem,” even as she reflected on staying in a luxurious lodging during the catastrophic wildfire.

The deadly wildfire that broke out in January this year devastated most of the Pacific Palisades and claimed the lives of at least 30 people, according to Hello Magazine.

“I spent the January fires in Los Angeles arguing with my mother in a hotel room,” she explained in her essay titled ‘A Chronically Ill Earth: COVID Organizing as a Model Climate Response in Los Angeles’.

Violet Affleck mentioned that the ‘Peppermint’ star, who volunteered to help her devastated community amid the fires, was left “shell-shocked, astonished at the scale of destruction.”

But she found herself unexpectedly surprised. Calling herself “a lifelong Angelena and climate-literate member of Generation Z,” Violet wrote, “My question had not been whether the Palisades would burn but when.”

She added that the misunderstanding extended not just between her and her mother but also involved her 13-year-old brother, Samuel, according to the Daily Mail.

“Did global warming have to do with the speed of the wind?” she recalled Samuel asking. She continued, “Hopefully, most of us understand the climate crisis better than my little brother.”

Violet went on to describe the climate crisis as “existential and accelerating.” She emphasized that it was fueled by “unsustainable consumption patterns concentrated among the wealthiest citizens of the wealthiest countries,” patterns that had already exposed much of the nation and the world to “deadly temperatures, fire-flood cycles, rising seas, and dying crops.”

Violet went on to critique the government's handling of Covid-19 and the societal pressure to “return to normal,”

"While vaccines have been extremely effective in reducing death rates, those of us who have never stopped following the science know that even mild COVID infections are dangerous," she wrote of the disease.

Violet's research ended with a comparison of airborne disease transmission and public health measures implemented during climate disasters.

Violet Affleck’s long tale of activism

Activism is nothing new to Violet Affleck, who has been vocal about public health and the COVID-19 pandemic.

In January, she reportedly voiced her belief that the disastrous wildfires in Los Angeles would make people realize how important it is to stop a ban on face masks.

According to reports, she even pressured her famous parents and siblings to wear a mask to shield themselves from the dangerous air quality brought on by the horrifying fires.

"She is clearly not going to give up on advocating for mask mandates. It has become a part of who she is and what she stands for," an insider told Daily Mail.

In an impassioned plea to the Los Angeles County governing body last year, she urged for the repeal of all "mask bans" and the implementation of "mask mandates" in medical facilities.

Internet blasts Violet Affleck for complaining about climate change

Violet Affleck’s research paper about the LA wildfire was met with backlash by internet users, who branded her 'hypocritical' for complaining about climate change while flying around in jets.

“Another from the school of "do as I say not as I do." She's driven round in gas guzzling cars, takes flights here, there, everywhere & grew up in large houses that consume vast amounts of power, water & resources to maintain their opulence & splendour. Quoting the words of others as shes got nought original to say. Give it a rest already Violet. You too are part of the problem, not the solution,” one user wrote under a Daily Mail article.

"So she lectures about climate change but jets between west and east coast? Hypocrite!" a second user slammed.

"Typical Generation Z . Knows what the problems are (they think) but wont let any fixes they perceive affect their jet set life style. More hypocrisy," a third user commented, while a fourth questioned, "She comments about the change arising because of wealthy people and that help went quickly to the rich who were affected and more slowly to the poor areas, but I don't see her volunteering to give up her wealth and go to help in those areas."

"What is it with these rich kids taking places of kids that have earned they place to go to uni, and yet rich kids just walk in..tell us how to live and fly around the world..this makes me mad rich kids that have never worked," another user wrote.
