NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Tamron Hall is celebrating former colleague Hoda Kotb's latest life decision with pride and understanding.

While attending the inaugural Food & Wine Classic in Charleston, Hall spoke to People about Kotb’s recent announcement to step back from her role at NBC’s 'Today' show to focus more on her family.

"Oh, you know what? I understand it. I do. I understand it greatly. Being a mom — being a mom who is a bit older, you want to give your child, your family as much time and love as possible," said Hall, 54, who shares her 5-year-old son Moses with her husband.

Kotb, 60, shared on September 26 that she would be exiting her daily hosting duties on 'Today' to spend more time with her daughters, Haley, 7, and Hope, 4.

She recently relocated with them to a home in the suburbs, allowing her to focus more on family life. Kotb will continue in her role at NBC until early 2025.

Reflecting on the news, Hall expressed admiration for Kotb's decision, calling it both "beautiful" and "difficult." "I'm proud of her," she said.

Hall herself left NBC back in 2017, when the network announced that Megyn Kelly would be taking over her co-hosting spot on 'Today’s 9 am hour.

The exit was a surprise, but Hall bounced back, launching 'The Tamron Hall Show' in 2019, which has just entered its sixth season.

Despite the abrupt departure at the time, there seems to be no lingering animosity.

“I respect that decision and wish her and her adorable daughters nothing but the best,” Hall said, also giving a nod to her recently released cookbook, 'A Confident Cook,' which dropped earlier this month.

Hoda Kotb pens emotional letter about her departure after 26 years

In the heartfelt letter that Kotb penned to the NBC staff before publicly announcing her decision, she shared the emotional weight of the choice.

She emotionally shared how her 60th birthday celebration in August led her to a pivotal decision for change, on the September 26 episode of TODAY.

"As I write this, my heart is all over the map," she wrote, as per TODAY.

"I know I’m making the right decision, but it’s a painful one. And you all are the reason why. They say two things can be right at the same time, and I’m feeling that so deeply right now. I love you and it’s time for me to leave the show."

After 26 years with the network, Kotb won’t be disappearing from the screen entirely.

She will continue to work in a different capacity at NBC, as she emphasized in her letter: "Happily and gratefully, I plan to remain a part of the NBC family, the longest work relationship I’ve been lucky enough to hold close to my heart."

Kotb, who co-anchors 'Today' alongside Savannah Guthrie, made history as part of the first all-female hosting duo for the morning show. She also co-hosts the fourth hour of the show with Jenna Bush Hager.

While Kotb’s transition is bittersweet for both her and her fans, Hall’s words highlight the grace in making hard choices for family — something she, as a mother, fully understands.

The Food & Wine Classic, where Hall was speaking, is currently underway in Charleston from September 27-29.
