Wendy Williams fires her court-appointed attorney amid her battle to get out of guardianship
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Wendy Williams has reportedly fired her court-appointed attorney amid her battle to end her conservatorship.
Linda Redlisky was given the pink slip on Wednesday, January 29, after she allegedly failed to file documents for a trial as asked by the former presenter, as reported by The New York Post.
The publication citing TMZ sources stated that after submitting paperwork, Williams was keen on starting the trial to find out if her guardianship was required or not.
Wendy Williams feels like she is in 'prison’
The latest development came after the 60-year-old shed tears during an interview with Charlamagne tha God on ‘The Breakfast Club’, as per The Post.
She shared that she has been confined inside a New York City assisted-living facility, which she called a "prison" with no access to the internet via a laptop or iPad.
During the January 16 interview, the media personality said, “My life is f**ked up. I feel like I’m in prison. I’m definitely isolated. I keep the door closed, I watch TV, listen to the radio and look out the window. Sit here as my life goes by.”
“I’m in this place where the people are in their 90s and their 80s and their 70s. There’s something wrong with these people here on this floor,” she stated.
Wendy Williams wanted to be with her father on his birthday
Wendy Williams revealed that at the facility she’s not allowed to “leave or have visitors."
"So you can’t even leave and take a walk if you wanted to, or take a trip or visit family members,” Williams informed.
“I don’t know if I’m going to be able to see my dad on his 94th birthday. The day after that is not promised,” she added while in tears, before asserting, “This is what is called emotional abuse.”
Williams also noted at the time that despite her “care team” claiming she has frontotemporal dementia and aphasia, she’s “not cognitively impaired.”
Her niece, Alex Finnie, was also on the interview call, and claimed, “Anybody that knows my aunt knows she’s always had a unique personality. How she’s talking, that’s her. That’s who she is. Don’t try to twist how she is.”
Alex Finnie starts GoFundMe for Wendy Williams
Alex Finnie and a family friend have even launched a GoFundMe page to help Wendy Williams.
The message says, “A GoFundMe fundraiser is being urgently organized to assist Wendy in expediting her return to her rightful home in Florida. For far too long, Wendy has faced the challenges of being unjustly placed under guardianship and labeled as incapacitated, despite her strong will and determination to live her life independently.”
“Her current situation is not only unfair but also deeply isolating. The guardian assigned to her has severed her connections with friends and family, leaving her without the support network she so desperately needs,” it added.
