NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: A friend of Wendy Williams asserted that since 'a stranger has control' over the former TV host's life, the star's guardianship is worse than Britney Spears' conservatorship.

In a rare interview with The US Sun, Wendy's longtime friend Regina Schell expressed her worries about the guardianship arrangement used for the former TV star.

In 2022, media personality Wendy was placed under legal guardianship when her aphasia and dementia diagnosis were shockingly revealed.

Regina pointed out that Wendy's guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, was not familiar with the celebrity before taking charge of her life in 2022 and was selected by the court.

Regina said, "This is a Britney Spears thing, only it's worse since it's not even Wendy's family who has control."

"At least with Britney Spears it was her dad, it was her family, this is a woman who's not even family. And how does this guardian get all this standing?" she remarked.

Regina continued, "Wendy was looking for real estate, she was talking to a financial expert at Bank of America to try to gain control of her finances."

"I don't know how she went to at least 90% Wendy to now she's incapacitated and can never see anyone again."

Wendy's irate buddy remarked, "She should be surrounded by friends and family right now, not isolated and alone."

Regina previously blasted Wendy Williams' legal guardian

In her initial long-form interview with The US Sun, Regina—Wendy's 44-year closest friend who lived with her throughout the summer of 2022—earlier enquired about the status of her famous pal.

The star's pal claimed that at one point, she was collaborating with the guardian, Wendy's sister Wanda Finnie, and Wendy herself to assist with her requirements.

"Initially, when I was staying with Wendy in the summertime, we were like triangulating, we were speaking to Sabrina, but then she kind of disappeared," Regina claimed at the time.

In the wake of the documentary, Regina made a brief appearance on NewsNation, where she blasted the guardian and discussed what she had witnessed while living with Wendy in 2022.

Regina told NewsNation anchor Chris Cuomo, "When I was in New York and staying with Wendy in the summer, I noticed when she would call… she had no access to her money."

"So, every time she had to do anything that she had to pay for, she had to go through the guardian," she added.

Wendy's childhood best friend claimed that Wendy would frequently go for hours without eating.

"When I went back to Los Angeles, I would have to send her food from Los Angeles to New York from a delivery service, because she wasn't getting… the communication wasn't there."

The friend said, "And she had no other access to money other than this guardian."

Wendy Williams doc producers earlier cited Britney Spears' conservatorship as reason for Lifetime Series

In a previous statement, the producers of Lifetime's 'Where Is Wendy Williams?' cited Britney Spears' 13-year conservatorship to support the "public importance" of telling Wendy Williams' narrative.

The executive producer of the documentary series, Mike Ford, addressed Wendy's court-appointed guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, in unsealed court records obtained by PEOPLE.

On February 20, Morrissey attempted to prevent the 4.5-hour project from airing.

The statement went on to mention Spears, whose conservatorship "sparked enormous debate about the power wielded by court-appointed consecrators and guardians."

Morrissey had said that the documentary could "shamelessly" take advantage of the celebrity amid her problems. Ford responded by saying that he and his crew "collaborated closely" with Wendy, 59, who was "at all times eager to participate in the documentary."
