Wendy Williams' niece questions motives of her aunt's inner circle amid health struggles on 'The View'
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Wendy Williams' niece, Alex Finnie, made a guest appearance on a recent episode of 'The View', shedding light on concerns regarding the motivations of individuals within her aunt's inner circle amid the TV personality's ongoing health challenges.
The conversation delved into Williams' financial situation, which saw her assets frozen in 2022 and a temporary financial guardianship established due to suspicions of undue influence and financial exploitation.
Alex Finnie expresses concerns about Wendy Williams' cognitive state
Co-host Sara Haines highlighted the court's move, and when asked about the claims of improper handling of Williams' finances, Finnie confirmed that she indeed had questions about certain individuals close to her aunt.
She openly wondered, “What I will say in terms of things that I have seen over the last two years, yes, there were definitely people around her that you do question,” she said. “Why are you here? What’s your motive? How are you doing this job? Are you getting paid? Because I’m sure you’re not doing it for free. There were those questions,” Finnie remarked.
Finnie continued, expressing concerns about Williams' cognitive state, pondering whether her aunt was fully aware of the decisions made by those in her employ.
She stated, “Then obviously cognitively, with seeing my aunt in the state that she’s in, you do wonder, OK, if she did sign off and hire you or whatever the case may be, was she aware of everything? So that leads us to where we are now.”
Communication struggles amid health crisis
Finnie shared the family's struggles in communicating with Williams, revealing instances where important information about her 93-year-old grandfather's health couldn't be relayed. These challenges highlight the complexities surrounding Williams' health and her relationship with her inner circle.
“There was a period where my grandfather was in the hospital,” she said and added, "There was no way to contact [Williams] and let her know what was going on with her 93-year-old father.”
The discussion unfolded against the backdrop of a recent press release from Williams' care team, revealing that she had been diagnosed with dementia and aphasia in 2023. While the release acknowledged the significant hurdles these conditions pose, it also emphasized Williams' resilience, noting that she "maintains her trademark sense of humor."
