WASHINGTON, DC: The White House is reportedly distressed as pressure mounts on President Joe Biden to drop out of the election.

Aides and campaign staff are said to be "miserable" as the president faces mounting criticism over his ability to serve a second term.

Joe Biden's inner circle under fire amid his reelection pressure

The tension has been building for some time, with many Democrats urging Joe Biden to step aside and allow younger candidates to take the reins.

"Everyone is miserable, and senior advisers are a total black hole," a White House official told Axios.

"Even if you're trying to focus on work, nothing is going to break through or get any acknowledgment [from bosses]," the official added.

The president's inner circle, including Deputy Chief of Staff Annie Tomasini, First Lady Jill Biden's top adviser Anthony Bernal, and longtime aide Ashley Williams, has come under scrutiny for allegedly creating a "protective bubble" around Biden.

Aides claim that this bubble has made the president reliant on staff to remember important details, including the names of people he has known for a long time.

"Annie, Ashley and Anthony create a protective bubble around POTUS. He's staffed so closely that he's lost all independence," a source told the publication.

"POTUS relies on staff to nudge him with reminders of who he's meeting, including former staffers and advisers who Biden should easily remember without a reminder from Annie," a former Biden aide told the publication.

House Democrats and others have been urging Biden to drop out and give younger faces a chance, with many rallying for Vice President Kamala Harris, former First Lady Michelle Obama, and California Governor Gavin Newsom.

"The only thing that can really allay concerns is for the president to demonstrate that he's capable of running this campaign," a high-ranking Democratic National Committee official told the outlet.

"Everything else feels like 'Weekend at Bernie's' by his inner circle to prop him up," the official added.

Internet reacts to Democrats' 'miserable' state amid growing pressure on Joe Biden

Netizens had varied reactions to many White House, Joe Biden's campaign and Democratic officials being increasingly worried in the post-presidential debate scenario.

Some predicted that Biden, despite his insistence to run for reelection, will quit the race soon, "Biden will quit next week," wrote one user on X (formerly Twitter).

Some expressed doubt and said it is not the case with Biden as one wrote, "I don’t believe that."

One suggested it was common and no big deal for POTUS to rely on his staff as one wrote, "I rely on my wife and coworkers to do that. I would love a personal assistant."

Another user wrote a harsh comment saying, "It's obvious the man is not stable mentally and anyone still supporting him is an elder abuser."

One suggested the staff failed to predict Biden's condition earlier. "Poor babies. Did they not see this coming?" asked the user.

"It’s almost as if they’re starting to reap what they’ve sown. It will get much worse for them," wrote one more.
