WASHINGTON, DC: In the heart of Washington DC, where political tensions run high, one place stands out for its surprising lack of awareness about the ongoing political climate: the community college where first lady Dr Jill Biden teaches, as per New York Post.

Situated just nine miles from the White House, Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA) seems an unlikely spot for such oblivious behavior. At NOVA’s Alexandria campus, more than 15 students interviewed by The Post this week were surprisingly uninformed about the political controversies surrounding President Joe Biden’s re-election campaign.

Some students didn’t even recognize that their English professor, 'Dr B' as she is commonly referred to, is the first lady of the United States.

One anonymous staff member remarked, "You know she swans in here with her entourage a couple of times a week and makes everyone call her ‘Doctor'," referencing the Secret Service detail that accompanies her. The staffer added, "I don’t know her personally but it’s a little bit of a joke. Most teachers here don’t insist on being called Dr."

Jill, who earned her Ed.D. from the University of Delaware in 2007, has taught at NOVA since 2009. Her dissertation focused on student retention in community colleges. Despite her high-profile role, her presence on campus seems to be a point of both confusion and amusement among students and staff alike.

A 20-year-old Afghani student told The Post, "I stay out of politics and I don’t watch the news. I know Dr. B. I almost took her class."

Many students who did recognize Jill as the first lady were unaware of the controversies surrounding Biden’s cognitive abilities and his fitness to run for another term.

One student, upon learning about the concerns, expressed surprise and sympathy, saying, "I feel so bad for him. Is that really true? That’s so sad. I heard about the debate, but not this."

Two freshmen playing ping-pong outside the student center, near Jill's classroom, were also unaware that she taught at their school. Only one student, Chris Bladen, allowed his name to be used. He refrained from criticizing Jill or her husband, stating, "I might be the biggest Trump-hater in the world. I just wish we had better candidates."

In an interview with Vogue, Jill explained that many of her students are recent immigrants or older women re-entering the workforce.

She mentioned, "Whatever I give them, it has to be short. Because they leave my class and go straight to work, many of them. They may work until eight o’clock, then they have to do my homework, and they might have kids, too, or parents to take care of."

Jill often assigns articles instead of books to keep costs down for her students but does include Trevor Noah’s memoir, 'Born a Crime: Stories from a South African Childhood', in her curriculum.

Jill Biden mocked online in wake of students being oblivious about her at NOVA

Social media users were quick to mock Jill after learning many students at NOVA seem to be unaware of her first lady status. One user said, "Nothing worthwhile to add to anyone’s college experience. Other than 'how to be oblivious to a spouses needs when experiencing mental decline.'"

While another remarked, "It’s usually the people who are least qualified that that are most aggressive about their image." One user wrote, "It’s interesting she teaches at a school that accepts any applicant. Low standards a big part of the Biden brand."

Another user posted, "Such a horrible role model for today's young women." One user commented, "The class is titled elder abuse 101." Another user mentioned, "Those who CAN, do, those who CAN'T, teach. Has been that way forever."

Someone else stated, "Jill is the most undeserving of the title Doctor. Her First Lady roll is all about her ego. She cares about herself solely from the moment she gets up until she goes to bed. Everyone and everything else is irrelevant." One user said, "Lives in a Bubble and is out of touch."
