WASHINGTON, DC: Representative Andy Ogles (R-Tenn) suggested that Hunter Biden’s conviction on federal gun charges could create "an opening" for Michelle Obama to run for the White House.

Ogles stressed the need to "pursue justice" and hinted that President Joe Biden might step back from the race amid his son’s guilty verdict.

Rep Andy Ogles says Democrats are 'desperate' for another candidate

Ogles posited that this situation might pave the way for Michelle to enter the presidential race, despite her repeated assertions that she is not seeking office.

The former First Lady has consistently stated her support for President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris’ re-election campaign.

"That being said, I think it also creates an opening for Democrats like Michelle Obama in here," Ogles said on Fox News.

"The Biden family can say, ‘Hey, we’re going to take care of our house, we’re going to take care of our son,’ and then allow Michelle Obama to come in and run," Ogles added.

"Because again, Joe Biden can’t win this election, and they know that they are desperate for another candidate," he infered.

Andy Ogles says Hunter Biden's trial is a distraction from more serious crimes in Biden family

Hunter was convicted on three felony gun charges following a week-long trial. In response, President Biden stated he would accept the outcome of the case and not pardon his son.

Ogles echoed Trump’s campaign statement, which called Hunter Biden’s conviction "a distraction" from more serious allegations against the Biden family.

"Look, obviously we always need to pursue justice. With that being said, the Biden crime family is guilty of taking tens of millions of dollars from foreign countries," Ogles said, The Hill reported.

"That should be the main topic of conversation. That’s what should be prosecuted and adjudicated in court," he remarked.

Internet reacts to GOP speculation about Michelle Obama's presidential run

Netizens reacted strongly to the GOP’s suggestion of Michelle running for president.

"They’re so obsessed with Michelle Obama lolol," wrote one on X (formerly Twitter), and "The entire GOP apparatus is disconnected from reality," added another.

Another user noted, "What’s up with this fantasy? Do they think Michelle Obama is easier to defeat than Joe Biden? It’s a win-win for any Democrat to run against Trump in 2024."

Others pointed out Michelle's clear stance against running for president.

"Every single time Michelle Obama has been asked, she says NO. She’s NEVER left the possibility open, she’s NEVER said ‘Maybe.’ She’s said that the Presidency put a huge strain on their family, her marriage, the kids, she never wants to do that again, 8 years of service is enough."

Further comments highlighted skepticism about the GOP’s motives. "I might be worried if it was Hunter who was running for president. I’ll take Joe over the 34x convicted felon, with 55 more charges yet to be decided."

Another comment suggested that the GOP’s push for a different Democratic nominee might indicate their belief that Biden will win.

"The more they try to push on Dems should put up a different nominee, the more I think that they truly think Biden will win. Otherwise, why would they push another nominee? They would just keep going down the road of 'well this will hurt Biden, blah blah blah.'"
