WASHINGTON, DC: Former FBI special agent Peter Strzok found himself at the center of a firestorm after comparing former President Donald Trump's attacks on the Department of Justice to the rhetoric of authoritarian leaders around the world.

Strzok's controversial remarks, made during an interview on MSNBC, drew widespread condemnation on social media, with critics slamming the former counterintelligence agent for his pointed criticism of the former president, as per The Hill.

During his interview with MSNBC's Alex Witt, Strzok emphasized the concerning nature of Trump’s rhetoric, saying, "The problem isn’t so much that he immediately turns to try and fundraise from it."

He stressed, "The problem is he’s doing what authoritarians around the world do. He is casting his opponents in flowery, horrible terms, as people out not just to get him, but to kill him."

These comments were in response to Trump’s fundraising email, where he falsely claimed that President Joe Biden and the FBI were "locked & loaded and ready to take me out" during the 2022 search for classified documents at Mar-a-Lago.

He was probably referring to the "deadly force" statement, which actually restricts the use of force unless absolutely necessary—a standard policy applied to all searches, including those for documents at President Biden's home in Delaware.

Strzok dismissed Trump's assertions as "utterly false," emphasizing that he had heard the policy statement numerous times throughout his career.

He elaborated on the dangers of such statements, noting, "If and when he returns to power, he’s normalized this image to provide a justification to go out and investigate people, to go out and round up people he’s called vermin. It normalizes this idea that the other side is trying to use violence against me, and therefore, I’m justified in using violence against them. It’s a troubling development, and it should stop."

Following Trump's contentious claims, Special Counsel Jack Smith petitioned Judge Aileen Cannon to prohibit Trump from making public statements that could jeopardize law enforcement personnel.

Peter Strzok's comments about Donald Trump draw flak online

One said, "What a waste of oxygen," while another remarked, "The fact that Peter Strzok isn't in prison right now proves that our Department of Justice is corrupt."

"Says the guy who used the power of the FBI to target a political enemy. Geez," claimed a person and someone else added, "After everything he's done Peter Strzok should never be taken seriously or heard from again. He's just another state operative trying to maintain the status-quo of bureaucratic control of our institutions."

An individual expressed, "The lying weasel has absolutely zero room to be making comments!" "The unprosecuted criminal who engineered the Russia collusion hoax. Nobody sane should believe anything Strzok says, look at his track record of total dishonesty," argued one more.

Another person commented, "He’s a known liar and his opinion is supposed to matter why?" On the other hand, a netizen speculated about Strzok’s future, writing, "Stroke is worried that in the end he will be in jail."

"Who asked him? Nobody cares what this corrupt former FBI lawyer has to say about anything. Is this what journalism has become? I think even the corrupt Democrats want to distance themselves from him. That said, I bet he is employed by CNN and/or MSDNC," said one more individual.
