FRANKFORT, KENTUCKY: Republican Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky went ballistic against former President Donald Trump in a series of tweets on Monday, March 11, for endorsing a candidate whom he referred to as "the worst Deep State candidate this cycle."

Following Trump's endorsement of former Rep Mike Rogers, a candidate for the Michigan Senate, Paul took to social media to voice his disagreement and immense disappointment with the 77-year-old MAGA strongman’s decision.

The senator's reaction highlights the ongoing debate within the Republican Party over the direction it should take in light of the upcoming November general election, according to Mediaite.

What did Senator Rand Paul tweet on Monday?

Sen Paul (R-Ky) shared a compilation of videos on X (formerly Twitter) showing former Rep Mike Rogers (R-Mi) denouncing Trump and predicting that the former POTUS will not be the Republican nominee in 2024.

He wrote in the caption of the aforementioned post, “Donald Trump just endorsed the worst Deep State candidate this cycle. @MikeRogersForMI is a never Trumper, and a card carrying member of the spy state that seeks to destroy Trump. You have to ask yourself who gives Trump this awful advice? Who’s next, John Bolton?”

One clip showed Rep Rogers condemning Trump’s attacks on the media and in another clip, Rogers expressed skepticism that Donald Trump will be the Republican nominee in 2024, saying, “I don’t believe today, as I’m sitting here, that Donald Trump will be the Republican nominee in 2024. Don’t believe it.”

In another tweet, Sen Paul continued, “If he’s good with Mike Rogers (R-Deep State), maybe he should pick Liz Cheney for VP?”

On Monday, the former Great Lakes State representative Mike Rogers received an endorsement from the former president on his beleaguered social networking platform, Truth Social.

This endorsement comes in the wake of a challenge from former Republican-turned-independent congressman Justin Amash.

Donald Trump wrote on Monday regarding his backing of Mike Rogers, “Mike will work closely with me to enact our America First Policies. He will tirelessly fight to Secure the Border, Stop Inflation, Grow the Economy, Strengthen our Military / Veteran Support, and Protect and Defend our always under siege Second Amendment.”

“Mike Rogers will be a Great and Powerful Senator for Michigan, and has my Complete and Total Endorsement. HE KNOWS HOW TO WIN!” the former president declared.

Both Rogers and Amash have consistently expressed their disapproval of former President Trump in various media outlets.

However, Amash, a libertarian conservative who renounced his Republican membership in 2019 to become an independent, was the sole non-Democrat to vote for Trump's impeachment in 2019.

Amash has spent the last four years as a member of the Libertarian Party and made an announcement last month that he would be contesting for the Senate as a Republican.

Internet divided as Rand Paul questions Donald Trump's backing of Mike Rogers

People on X also expressed similar opinions to those of Senator Paul, while the overwhelming majority trolled Donald Trump for endorsing a longtime detractor.

One X user remarked, "Rand Paul is one of the only unbiased people in congress who just wants to make our country better."

Another user, ".@DonaldJTrumpJr who the hell is advising your dad? So many poor decisions regarding endorsements and personnel/staffing over the years and now this one!!"

Someone else argued, "The real question is: Why didn't you endorse the real conservative candidate (who has accomplished 1000x more than Trump ever did) in the GOP primary instead of trying to both sides things with your anti-Haley cop out?"

One user wrote, "Why? You need to contact Trump and ensure he only endorses America First candidates. Trump has been getting some bad advice on endorsements and our Country isn’t a reality show."

Another asked, "What made you expect different Rand? Did you watch 2016-2020?"

Someone else tweeted, "We need Rand always speaking truth to power on situations like this."
