MANHATTAN, NEW YORK: Whoopi Goldberg on 'The View' has suggested removing Donald Trump from office by invoking the 25th Amendment, which allows the removal of a president who is deemed unable to fulfill the duties of the office.

Goldberg’s statement stirred a backlash online from Trump supporters.

During the show aired on Wednesday, September 25, Goldberg said, “Other world leaders are 'really concerned for' the US under Trump’s leadership. He had a chance to deliver much more than what he did, and they don’t consider him to be serious anymore. I’m worried.”

“Well, they questioned Biden’s competence. If Biden had acted like this, I would have said, ‘Yeah, take him… This was not presidential, and this was not helpful,” Goldberg added.

Some of the other hosts of the show agreed with Goldberg, and Sony Hostin accused the president of lying to the UN General Assembly about ending seven wars across the Globe with the hopes of winning the Nobel Prize.

“It’s actually the 25th Amendment when you start questioning someone's competence,” co-host Sunny Hostin explained when someone asked her about the amendment.

On Tuesday, September 23, Trump delivered a fiery speech at the UN questioning the purpose of the international organization and ripping it for hiding behind “empty words” while underwriting “an assault on Western countries” through mass migration.

When Trump said, “Your countries are going to hell,” the atmosphere grew tense. “It’s time to end the failed experiment of open borders. You have to end it now,” he continued.

Technical issues during the UN event

However, the address was overshadowed by a troubling start when the teleprompter malfunctioned, prompting Trump to speak spontaneously without any preparations.

Trump then joked about the situation, saying whoever was in charge of the teleprompter would be in “big trouble,” drawing laughs from the crowd. But Goldberg claimed that such a reaction was to ridicule him rather than laugh at his jokes.

Earlier Trump was involved in an escalator incident, where it broke down once he and first lady Melania Trump stepped onto it. He also complained about the poor audio quality.

“These are the two things I got from the United Nations: a bad escalator and a bad teleprompter,” he later remarked and even called it absolute sabotage.

Trump supporters attack Whoopi Goldberg

Goldberg’s critics then soon jumped on social media to defend Trump, with one user on X praising Trump’s speech: "What happened to "speak truth to power". I loved his speech. He help up the mirror and forced them to look at themselves."

A few others accused her of being hypocritical. "If True that Whooopi wants Trump forcefully removed, wouldn't that fall under insurrection? You know that thing that Whoopi said J-6 people were guilty of and should be jailed forever for doing."

Another said, "'Forcibly removed from offoce". Seems like something @SecretService should look into. She could have said "impeached" but she said forcibly removed. Sounds like a threat against our sitting president."

They also mocked her for talking too much about “threats to democracy” while using similar language herself.
