MANHATTAN, NEW YORK: 'The View' took a sharp political turn this week, as co-host Whoopi Goldberg used the platform to address not just American viewers, but audiences watching from around the world.

Her message was straight: President Donald Trump doesn't represent the will of the American people, as per The New York Post reports.

Whoopi Goldberg says Trump's tariffs 'not our wish'

On the broadcast of April 10, Goldberg directly addressed international viewers, distancing herself and her co-hosts from the Trump administration’s latest policies, particularly his sweeping tariffs.

“All you countries who watch us, this is not our wish,” Goldberg said as her co-hosts nodded in agreement.

“This is not what the American people want. We don’t like it. We don’t like how it’s being – we don’t like how this is being done. That’s why you will hear us kvetching about this as long as we are able, because no one we’re talking to understands what’s going on, and, therefore, when they say America, they’re not talking about us.”

Goldberg doubled down on the divide between Trump supporters and what she believes to be the broader sentiment of the country:

“They are talking about that very narrow band of America that they think they represent, that I think they don’t realize they’re starting to lose.”

Goldberg urges protest as ‘The View’ hosts blast Trump’s economic strategy

The other 'The View' co-hosts also didn’t hold back in their takedown of Trump's tariff strategy, which had caused widespread economic uncertainty.

Although Trump later announced a 90-day pause on certain reciprocal tariffs, he also vowed to increase tariffs on Chinese goods. Goldberg, never shy about political confrontation, made it clear she wouldn’t stop criticizing the administration anytime soon.

“Remember, the resistance is real. You’re not alone,” she told viewers as she signed off during April 3 episode.

Goldberg’s activism extends beyond the studio walls.

During the March 19 episode, she urged Americans to take to the streets and let their frustration be heard.

“People have to get out and you have to march. You have to start making noise. This is now coming back to us,” she declared.

“The only way people are going to hear how angry you are is if you get out there.”

Media watchdog calls out ‘The View’ for bias in guest selection

Despite its large and loyal daytime audience, 'The View' has long been accused of harboring political bias.

Critics, especially from the right, say the show doesn't provide a truly balanced platform.

The conservative Media Research Center recently analyzed episodes aired between January 6 and April 4, and reported that the show didn’t feature a single right-leaning guest to discuss politics.

In contrast, the hosts welcomed 63 liberal guests, including nine Democratic politicians: Sen Tammy Duckworth (D-Ill); Sen John Fetterman (D-Pa); Gov Gretchen Whitmer and others.

They also hosted Sen Cory Booker (D-NJ) earlier this week to discuss his record-setting Senate floor speech.

Even the show’s two self-identified Republicans, Ana Navarro and Alyssa Farah Griffin, did not vote for Trump in 2024.
