LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Whoopi Goldberg shared her perspective on the outrage surrounding Beyonce's lack of nominations for her country album 'Cowboy Carter' at the 2024 CMA Awards on a recent episode of 'The View', as per People.

Despite the album's success, Beyonce's fans as well as fellow musicians were shocked that it received no recognition from the Country Music Association.

Whoopi Goldberg says awards are 'subjective' responding to outrage over Beyonce's CMA Awards snub

Whoopi Goldberg, however, wasn't surprised. She opened up the conversation to the panel saying, "A lot of people are surprised — I don't know why — that it didn't receive a single CMA Award nomination. Well, this is the question: Are you surprised? I don't think she was snubbed, I think they just didn’t... it wasn’t for them."

Beyonce’s 'Cowboy Carter', which featured collaborations with country artists like Willie Nelson and Linda Martell, reached No 1 on the Billboard 200. She also made history by becoming the first Black woman to top  Billboard's Hot Country Albums chart.

However, as Goldberg's co-host Sunny Hostin noted, despite a standout cover of Dolly Parton's 'Jolene' and the hit single 'Texas Hold 'Em', Beyonce didn't make the CMA Awards nominations list.

Hostin expressed her disappointment, saying, "I happen to love Dolly Parton, so I felt that when the Queen of Country sort of passed the baton a little bit for 'Jolene', which was an incredible song on her album, and 'Texas Hold 'Em', two incredible country songs, I thought she would at least get nominated for those two."

She added, "But, my mother always told me, 'Find the audience that's looking for you'. This audience isn't looking for her."

Goldberg maintained that the concept of being "snubbed" in awards shows is misplaced, referring to discussions surrounding 'Barbie' being overlooked for Oscar nominations.

"There are no snubs. That's what you have to keep in mind: Not everybody gets a prize, and it is subjective. Movies are subjective. The movies you love may not be loved by the people who are voting," stated the comedian.

The 58th Annual CMA Awards is scheduled to air live from Nashville's Bridgestone Arena on November 20.

Internet sides with Whoopi Goldberg as she weighs in on Beyonce's CMA Awards snub

Whoopi Goldberg's comments on Beyonce's lack of nominations at the 2024 CMA Awards sparked online buzz, with many users weighing in on whether the singer was truly "snubbed" or if the country music genre simply wasn't the right fit for her.

One remarked, "Unpopular opinion but Queen Bey is finally being treated for talent not name. All the fuss over her not winning certain Grammys so she tried a new genre... but wasn’t her best work."

Another added, "Usually I can't stand anything Whoopi says. But she was right. Perhaps maybe this wasn’t her audience."

"Whoopi, she wasn’t snubbed. She said it wasn’t a country album and also it stunk. Just because she’s popular doesn’t mean she is expected to win everything," opined a person.

An individual wrote, "Those who were nominated... worked hard and earned the award. Just because people seem to worship Beyoncé does not mean she is automatically deserving of the nomination."

"She wasn’t snubbed. She didn’t have the best country song/album. I hope she’s able to handle that better than the media," expressed one more, and another person echoed, "She’s right. Beyoncé isn’t country. Just because she recorded one country album doesn’t mean she switched genres."
