LOS ANGELES. CALIFORNIA: The cast of ‘Wicked’ - Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo in particular - have once again been ridiculed for a completely bizarre interview during their movie’s press tour.

As ‘Wicked’ released on November 22, the movie adaptation of the Broadway smash hit made considerable sound due to the film’s eclectic cast and awe-inspiring visuals.

On the other side, Grande and Erivo’s behavior during the press tour further elicited criticism as several fans often found them to be dramatic.

Recently, ‘The Boy Is Mine’ hitmaker and her British-born co-star were called out by fans for their interview with Out Magazine.

‘Wicked’ cast discuss impact of movie's popular song 'Defying Gravity'

In the clip shared on Out Magazine’s Instagram page, Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo sat for an interview with reporter Tracy Gilchrist, where they talked about the popular song from ‘Wicked’, ‘Defying Gravity’.

Speaking about the song, Gilchrist said that she heard people were taking verses from ‘Defying Gravity’, and “really holding space with that and feeling power in that," per New York Post

Erivo, visibly emotional, responded, “I didn’t know that was happening. That’s really powerful.”

Talking about the song composed by Stephen Schwartz, Erivo added, “That’s.. what I wanted.”

The 37-year-old actress looked toward Grande. The ‘Yes, And?’ songstress too showed her support by nodding and holding Erivo's index finger.

Erivo continued, “I didn’t know that was happening,” as her voice appeared to be choking.

Gilchrist added, “I’ve seen it in a couple posts, I don’t know how widespread, but you know, I am in queer media, so, that’s my, you know, but yeah, it’s happening.”

While the philosophical discussion mostly treaded on the territories of minority identity, several social media users were left flabbergasted by the exchange.

Internet perplexed over bizarre 'Wicked' interview

Unable to understand the theater jargon, several fans took to Instagram to ridicule Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo and voice their confusion over the interview.

One user said, "Im holding space for when this press tour is finally over."

"I feel like I just watched SNL NPR skit," said someone else.

Another added, "Lol this is way too sentimental, what does "taking the lyrics and holding space with them" even mean?? 😂"

"Im actually obsessed like truly nothing was said at all," quipped another netizen.

"Also defying gravity in the background on the violin this has to be comedy 😂," added someone humorously.

An individual noted, "They didn’t even say anything specific haha."

"What the hell is even going on / being talked about," quizzed another.

A user noted, "I feel like I’m in a fever dream."

"I am excited for the movie, but this press tour stuff is bizarre," said one individual, clearly not pleased with the press tour.

Another asked, "What is it that is actually happening."

"Wait you’re telling me this isn’t satire?" remarked a user.

Nevertheless, another fan explained the scenario, saying, "It just means that the song touched them in a way that allows them to reflect on personal experience, it’s simply a way to say something touched you and made you be really introspective."
