NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: As the wedding bells approach for Zooey Deschanel and Jonathan Scott, the former's social media has gone silent, suggesting they might be taking their sweet time or perhaps just savoring the moment away from the spotlight.

The beloved 'New Girl' star and the charming 'Backed by the Bros' host have been preparing for their wedding for nearly a year.

Zooey Deschanel’s last Instagram snapshot with Jonathan Scott dates back to late May, and the absence of Scott's presence on her feed is noticeable.

This unexpected lull is out of character for the couple, who are usually known for their playful and endearing social media antics.

Their love story began with a duet on 'Carpool Karaoke' in 2019, and by August 2023, they were engaged.

Despite their shared excitement, they’ve faced a barrage of questions about their big day. Scott shared with Us Weekly in June 2024 that they envision an intimate celebration with a reception that will wow their guests.

ET's Nischelle Turner recently caught up with Scott, who, despite being a groom-to-be, admitted that wedding planning has taken a backseat.

With the new season of 'Celebrity IOU' on the horizon, Jonathan and his twin brother Drew have been busy, but that's not the only reason the wedding plans have stalled.

"I have no updates. I wish I had more exciting news," Jonathan confessed. "We just got back from Europe, celebrated our daughter’s birthday, and attended a charity event. We don’t even feel settled in yet, but we’ve decided we’re going to figure it out soon."

Zooey Deschanel's social media silence might not be about wedding stress but rather the whirlwind of promoting her latest film, 'Harold and the Purple Crayon', where she plays the role of Terri, Mel's skeptical mother, in the live-action film.

Even as she dazzled at the film's premiere on July 21, the buzz about her upcoming nuptials continued.

In a surprising revelation, Zooey Deschanel admitted that she and Jonathan Scott have made zero progress in planning their wedding or honeymoon.

When asked about the possibility of eloping, Deschanel candidly told ET, "It's like something I think about every other day."

It seems she's not one to get tangled in the pursuit of a picture-perfect wedding.

With two previous marriages under her belt, she might be approaching this one with a more relaxed attitude.

Deschanel was married Ben Gibbard, the lead singer of the band Death Cab for Cutie, in 2009. The couple announced their separation in 2011, and their divorce was finalized in December 2012.  

Deschanel began dating producer Jacob Pechenik in 2014, and they got engaged in January 2015. They married in June 2015 and welcomed two children together: Elsie and Charlie.

Jonathan Scott, on the other hand, has been more vocal about their wedding plans.

In an October 2023 podcast appearance, he mentioned that they’ve discussed what they both want for their big day.

By March 2024, he revealed to ET that he’s been given the green light to don a kilt in honor of his Scottish heritage.

"She literally knows the things that are important to me," he said in an October 2023 appearance on the 'You Made It Weird With Pete Holmes' podcast.

Although Scott didn't reference the wedding in a video celebrating their five-year anniversary on August 5, he did share, "I became a partner to somebody who inspires me every day."

Their journey to the altar might be a bit unconventional, but it’s clear their bond remains as strong as ever.
