Aaron Carter’s estate faces financial turmoil as massive debt leaves his son with almost nothing
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The issues surrounding Aaron Carter’s estate and finances remain unresolved more than two years after his death.
According to the late singer’s estate administrator, his fortune is “insolvent,” leaving him unable to pay off his tax debt, InTouch Weekly reported.
Aaron Carter owed thousands of dollars to IRS and State of California
Aaron Carter, who faced lifelong struggles with addiction and mental health issues, died at 34 in November 2022 at his Lancaster, California home.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner later ruled his death accidental, noting he was “incapacitated while in the bathtub.”
After his death, it was revealed that he owed $77,312 in tax debts to the State of California, along with $46,116 for 2018 and $118,000 for 2021 to the IRS.
The administrator claimed, “This estate is insolvent and not able to pay said claim.”
Aaron Carter’s son won’t get much from his father’s fortune
Aaron Carter also owed over $2,800 to Wells Fargo, which was paid off, but a $19,000 debt claimed by another company remains unpaid due to insufficient funds.
The administrator stated that the rapper's total worth was $810,547, but it decreased after settling attorney fees and debts.
Carter's sole heir, his two-year-old son Princeton Lyric Carter, has reportedly been left with very little. Princeton’s mother is Melanie Martin, the late singer’s on-off fiancee.
Aaron Carter shared complicated relationship with brother Nick
Earlier this year, a docuseries titled ‘Fallen Idols: Nick and Aaron Carter’ was released.
As per IMDb, the series explores “the controversy surrounding allegations of sexual assault against Nick Carter and the personal battles faced by his brother Aaron, including mental health issues and substance abuse that led to his tragic death in 2022.”
After Carter’s death, his elder brother Nick posted, “My heart has been broken today. Even though my brother and I have had a complicated relationship, my love for him has never ever faded.”

“I have always held on to the hope that he would somehow, someday want to walk a healthy path and eventually find the help that he so desperately needed. Sometimes we want to blame someone or something for a loss, but the truth is that addiction and mental illness is the real villain here,” the 44-year-old singer added.
