The 84-year-old actor expressed joy at watching his son grow and develop.

"You know, I have this little person. Everything he does is interesting to me," he said.

Despite the challenges of co-parenting from a distance, the legendary 'Godfather' actor has discovered fun activities that help them bond.

Al Pacino's unique way of communicating with his son Roman

Though Roman is still very young, Al Pacino shared that the two have already developed their own special forms of communication.

"He does text me from time to time," the actor joked about his young son. He also revealed that they enjoy playing music together, particularly the harmonica.

"We talk. I play the harmonica with him, and we have made this kind of contact. So it’s fun," said Pacino.

Acknowledging the reality of aging, he is determined to be there for Roman’s future milestones.

"Well, now I want to be around for this child. Of course I do. But things happen. I hope I am. I hope I stay healthy, and he knows who his dad is," the actor shared.

In June 2023, Pacino and Noor Alfallah welcomed Roman and sources close to the actor have previously shared how thrilled he was about becoming a father again.

“Al loves being a father and always has. He is excited,” said an insider, according to People.

Al Pacino's personal legacy through an autobiography

In the interview, Al Pacino also spoke about his upcoming autobiography 'Sonny Boy', revealing that part of his motivation for writing it is to leave something behind for Roman.

When asked by The New York Times what movie Roman should watch to understand his father's acting legacy, the actor suggested the 2011 comedy 'Jack and Jill', in which he made a memorable cameo in a Dunkin’ Donuts commercial alongside Adam Sandler.

"I think he should start off with Adam Sandler’s," he said with a laugh.

Explaining that the film offer came at a difficult time in his life, Pacino admitted, "It came at a time in my life that I needed it, because it was after I found out I had no more money."

"My accountant was in prison, and I needed something quickly. So I took this. There’s this thing I do in that film: They got me doing a Dunkin’ Donuts commercial," he shared.

"You know how many people think I actually made that commercial? I mean it’s just so unfair,” Pacino said humorously.
