Angelina Jolie has 'kept her distance' from awards shows after split from Brad Pitt, claims source
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Angelina Jolie kept herself away from awards shows following her high-profile split from Brad Pitt in 2016, a source revealed, as per OK Magazine.
They revealed, "Since their split, she’s kept her distance. She’s never been a big Hollywood schmoozer."
However, as per the insider, Jolie has been "making her presence on the scene very felt" compared to earlier years due to the rumors that her Maria Callas biopic, 'Maria', could be nominated for an Academy Award.
Brad Pitt doesn't like the thought of running into Angelina Jolie at awards shows
The source added that Brad Pitt finds the possibility of running into his estranged wife "annoying." They noted, "What really bugs him is the idea that she’s marching around town like she’s the queen bee."
"Brad's pretty accustomed to being the toast of awards season every year, thanks to his production company, Plan B, that always manages to win something, but what he isn’t used to is having Angelina there," dished the insider.
The former couple managed to keep from bumping into each other when they attended the 2024 Venice Film Festival in August.
The event’s artistic director Alberto Barbera explained, "Angelina will be on the first day, on Thursday [Aug] 29, and she will leave right after with [Maria director] Pablo Larraín to go to [the] Telluride [Film Festival]. Brad will arrive only on Saturday, to Venice. There is no way that they can cross each other at the Lido."
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's messy split
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie tied the knot in August 2014, but just two years later, the 'Salt' actress filed for divorce on September 20, 2016, citing irreconcilable differences. Since then, the couple has been embroiled in a complex legal battle, delaying the finalization of their divorce.
However, they were ruled legally single in 2019, as per People.
A year into their divorce, the 'Fight Club' actor told GQ, "I heard one lawyer say, 'No one wins in court — it's just a matter of who gets hurt worse.' And it seems to be true, you spend a year just focused on building a case to prove your point and why you're right and why they're wrong, and it's just an investment in vitriolic hatred. I just refuse. And fortunately, my partner in this agrees."
A source told People that it is quite shocking that the two still "can't find a resolution and finalize the divorce." Another said, "Hopefully they can both get on the same page to at least resolve the matrimonial side of things while the Miraval case plays out."
Angelina Jolie plans to move out of Los Angeles
Angelina Jolie revealed in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter on August 30 that she plans on leaving Tinseltown after her youngest children, twins Knox and Vivienne, turn 18.
She said, "I grew up in this town. I am here because I have to be here from a divorce, but as soon as they’re 18, I’ll be able to leave."
"When you have a big family, you want them to have privacy, peace [and] safety. I have a house now to raise my children, but sometimes this place can be … that humanity that I found across the world is not what I grew up with here," shared the 'Maleficent' actress.
"[After Los Angeles,] I’ll spend a lot of time in Cambodia. I’ll spend time visiting my family members wherever they may be in the world," added the 'Tom Raider' actress.
Jolie also talked about balancing her family life with her working life – which sometimes means bringing them to set.
She explained, "I’ve been a parent for 23 years. The most beautiful thing about being a parent is that you are not the center of your life. So you are leaving set, focused on something for someone. That’s your real life. Your real world. And that always is the majority of who you are."
"I have never had a set where my family is not allowed to be there because I’m focusing — I’m not that person. You can climb all over me or visit," noted Jolie.
