Angelina Jolie raises eyebrows after series of awkward interactions with her own bodyguard

CANNES, FRANCE: Angelina Jolie made a jaw-dropping appearance at the Cannes Film Festival last week, but sparked concerns after a video of her interactions with her bodyguard went viral on social media.

The 49-year-old Oscar winner graced the red carpet for the premiere of 'Eddington', the new Ari Aster flick starring Pedro Pascal, Emma Stone, Joaquin Phoenix, and Austin Butler.

While Jolie doesn't star in the film herself, she was the belle of the ball at the premiere. 

Fans spot something off about Angelina Jolie's security guard

According to the Daily Mail, fans noticed that Angelina Jolie appeared visibly uneasy around one of her security guards at the event. 

A video that's making the rounds on Instagram shows her sidestepping eye contact with the man, almost dodging any interaction with him. At one point, she even turns her head away as he tries to get her attention during a swanky dinner. Instead of acknowledging him, Jolie turns to another member of her team and gets his attention instead.

In another awkward moment, the same security guard tries to take a bouquet of red roses from her hand while she is interacting with a fan. 

Fans were quick to sound the alarm on social media.

“She doesn’t like him,” one declared.

Another said, “She is clearly not comfortable.”

A third wrote, “I feel stressed out just by seeing that. I know that’s their own work but please let her breathe!”

"The way she exhales in exhaustion before he even bothers her is so relatable," someone else added.

"Body language says it all!" a comment read, while another quipped, “She needs security from her own security."

While plenty of viewers took Angelina’s side, others jumped to the guard’s defense. Not everyone agreed that he was the problem.

“Way to destroy somebody’s life and reputation,” one user snapped.

“Just imagine yourself being publicly shamed and criticized for doing your job. If he was a problem, she would most likely fired him by now.”

Jolie's glitzy appearance at Cannes follows her February look at the 30th annual Critics' Choice Awards, where she wowed in an embroidered floral lace gown in a semi-sheer golden brown hue. That was her last major red carpet moment before Cannes.

Angelina Jolie stunned in a strapless champagne-hued ball gown from Brunello Cucinelli’s Fall/Winter 2025 collection, according to Harper's Bazaar.

The dreamy ensemble featured a woven knit pattern, delicate sequins, and a cape sleeve. The floor-length poplin skirt flared out perfectly, making it look regal and effortless.

She paired the gown with nude heels and a splash of sparkle—gorgeous drop earrings in white and yellow diamonds and a tennis necklace crowned with a teardrop-shaped centerpiece.

Fans went wild as she smiled and waved to the cameras, showing off her toned arms and tattooed skin.

The gown’s thigh-high slit even offered a subtle flash of leg as she made her way inside Carlton Beach for the glamorous premiere on May 16.
