Ashley Biden reflects on 2025’s ‘darkest days and nights’ after divorce from Howard Krein
WILMINGTON, DELAWARE: Ashley Biden, daughter of former President Joe Biden, shared a heartfelt reflection on the year 2025 in the wake of her divorce from her husband of 13 years, Dr Howard Krein.
In a heartfelt social media post, she described the year as both deeply painful and transformative. Ashley had filed for divorce in August 2025.
Ashley Biden says 2025 'restored me to the best version of myself'
Looking back on 2025 in an Instagram post, Ashley said the year "broke my heart, fixed my vision, and restored me to the best version of myself."
She expressed a profound sense of gratitude for the support of her family, friends, and faith, which she said carried her "through the darkest days and nights."
Ashley added that she feels "more present and more aligned" with her true self and values as she looks ahead with hope.
She also said she has "shed all the things and people who no longer serve my highest good," describing a renewed sense of strength and confidence about the future.
She went on to say that she "rides into the future with my hands confidently holding the reins…with love, grace, strength, and gratitude."
Ashley also cautioned playfully, "Disclaimer: the bucking bronco still resides within if you mess with those I love."
Ashley Biden shares personal moments after filing for divorce
On the day of her divorce filing, Ashley shared an Instagram Story showing her walking through a park and giving a thumbs-up, set to Beyonce’s 'Freedom'.
She also reportedly shared the quote, "New life, new beginnings means new boundaries. New ways of being that won’t look or sound like they did before," with Lauryn Hill’s ‘Freedom Time’ playing alongside the upload.”
Weeks later, Ashley shared another post via her Instagram Stories, captioning it simply, "Peace of mind."
She also shared a photo of herself walking with her father, writing, "Chicken soup for my soul. I feel so grateful for our walks and talks. #1 dad."
The photo showed Ashley smiling at the camera as she walked alongside the former president, who wore a dark blue cap and a matching long-sleeved shirt.
A second photo captured the two standing on the boardwalk at the Delaware Bay. These images marked the first publicly shared photos of Biden since July 2025.
She married her now-estranged husband, Krein, in Delaware in 2012, a year after he proposed.
At the time, Joe and Jill Biden announced, "We are pleased to announce that our daughter, Ashley Blazer Biden, married Dr. Howard Krein this evening in Wilmington, Delaware," in a statement to Us Weekly.
The statement continued, "The private ceremony was attended by the bride and groom’s close family and friends. We’re happy to welcome Howard into our family, and we wish them all the best in their new life together."
