Barbra Streisand’s stepson Jess Brolin in dire financial straits, refuses help from dad James Brolin

OJAI, CALIFORNIA: While Barbra Streisand and her husband James Brolin enjoy the opulence of their Malibu mansion, James' youngest son, Jess Brolin, is reportedly living a vastly different life in a cramped hotel room on the outskirts of Ojai, California.

Despite repeated offers of assistance from his superstar stepmother, 82, and his famous father, 84, Jess, who weighs upwards of 350 lbs, has chosen to navigate his challenges independently.

Jess Brolin's financial struggles

Jess Brolin, 52, has faced a series of hardships since the death of his mother, Jane Agee, who tragically died in a car accident in 1995, according to People.

Agee was an actress and wildlife conservationist, married to actor James Brolin from 1966 until their divorce in 1984. They had two children together, Josh and Jess.

Jess' struggles seemed to compound after the trust fund he inherited from his mother ran out.

As per Daily Mail, in 2011 he was living out of an old 1981 Toyota truck.

According to the Mirror, a decade ago, Jess made headlines when he was photographed rummaging through rubbish bins on the side of the street, appearing to live out of his rundown truck. Recent sightings suggest that little has changed for Jess over the years.

While Jess struggles financially and otherwise, his older brother, actor Josh Brolin, 56, has thrived in Hollywood with roles in 'Men In Black' and 'Avengers'. He is married to Kathryn Boyd Brolin and resides in a luxurious $7.1 million six-bedroom farmhouse in Montecito, a neighborhood also home to high-profile celebrities like Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, Oprah Winfrey, and Katy Perry.

Jess Brolin turns down offers of help from Barbra Streisand and James Brolin

Jess Brolin was recently photographed outside the three-star Topa Vista Hotel, reportedly owned by LA nightclub mogul Steve Edelson, 64.

According to the Daily Mail, Jess has been staying at this modest establishment for a few months and is expected to remain there for a while longer.

In the pictures obtained by the publication, Jess appeared downcast, dressed in a black t-shirt emblazoned with a Batman logo, baggy denim shorts, and worn-out brown trainers.

A large white bandage on his left ankle hinted at possible mobility issues as he waited for a bus.

Sources claim that despite his challenging circumstances, Jess has turned down multiple offers of help from Barbra and James, who have been married since July 1, 1998.

The couple has reportedly made several attempts to provide financial support and assist Jess in getting back on his feet, but to no avail.

Back in 2011, a spokesperson for Streisand and her husband confirmed that the couple had tried their best to help him through his difficulties, emphasizing, "We love him very much and want only the best for him."
