Barron Trump ‘saved’ friend’s life by calling cops after witnessing assault on FaceTime
WASHINGTON, DC: A woman friend of Barron Trump told a UK court that the first son saved her life by alerting police after witnessing her alleged assault on a FaceTime call.
Testifying at Snaresbrook Crown Court, the unnamed woman said she contacted Barron Trump during a violent encounter with her former boyfriend, identified as Matvei Rumianstev. The defendant has denied the allegations against him.
According to the court, the incident took place in east London in the early hours of January 18, 2025.
Barron Trump called police after witnessing friend’s assault on FaceTime
The court heard that the woman called Trump while being attacked by Rumianstev, who allegedly became violent due to jealousy over her friendship with Donald Trump’s youngest son.
Prosecutors said the 22-year-old defendant began assaulting the woman at around 2:23 am. Trump, who was in the United States at the time, immediately contacted emergency services in the UK after realizing what was happening.
Audio of Trump’s call to 999 operators was played in court, during which he said, “I just got a call from a girl I know. She’s getting beaten up.”
Police bodycam footage shows officers responding to reported assault
Bodycam footage shown in court captured officers arriving at the woman’s address and speaking with her. The officers did not initially disclose who had contacted police on her behalf.
The woman later told officers, “I am friends with Barron Trump, Donald Trump’s son,” identifying him as the person who had raised the alarm.
An officer was also heard explaining to a colleague that the caller was “apparently this informant from America” and that the woman had been on FaceTime with Donald Trump’s son during the alleged assault.
Woman confirms Barron Trump placed emergency call to UK police
Footage further showed officers asking the woman to call Trump back to confirm the report.
She was heard saying, “Hello, Barron — did you call the police or anything?”
Trump replied, “I had someone call the police,” explaining that he acted after seeing and hearing the assault unfold on the call.
“I picked up the phone expecting a nice hello or something,” Trump said. “I just saw a ceiling and could hear screaming. I could see a guy’s head on the phone, and then the camera turns to her crying and getting hit.”
Woman tells court Barron Trump saved her life by calling police
Trump later told officers he believed calling police was the only safe option, saying it was “the best thing I could do” and that intervening directly could have made the situation worse.
At trial, the woman credited Trump with saving her life. “That call was like a sign from God at that moment,” she told the court.
The case against Rumianstev, a Russian national of New Providence Wharf in east London, is ongoing.
