As the host of the star-studded ceremony, the comedian seized the opportunity to poke fun at her former partner, fellow comedian Jo Koy, following his recent hosting mishap at the Golden Globes.

As reported by the Daily Mail, after eliciting laughter from the audience by joking about "tossing" legendary filmmaker Martin Scorsese like "a little Italian meatball," Handler added, "Thank you for laughing at that. My writers wrote it."

This remark was a direct reference to Koy, who, after facing a lackluster response from the Golden Globes audience, had notably blamed his writers on stage, stating, "I wrote some of these and they're the ones you're laughing at."

At the Golden Globes 2024, Koy received a somewhat cold reception for his jokes, particularly his remark about Taylor Swift. Swifties and some celebrities took offense, with Flavor Flav even urging him to apologize to Swift.
