Beyonce beating Taylor Swift for Album of the Year at 2025 Grammys divides Internet
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Beyonce has finally come to the full circle moment as she got hold of the coveted Album of the Year award in the recently concluded 67th Annual Grammy Awards.
The 43-year-old, who is also the most nominated artist of all time at the Grammys, though received several other accolades at the Grammys in the past, was in want of the most prestigious honor at music’s greatest award show.
The only right absolute definite correct reaction. This is BEYONCÉ! WINNING AOTY. See when you are unproblematic and inspired so many artists. The way everyone celebrated with full of joy. pic.twitter.com/y9kY75JecE

Nevertheless, the 2025 Grammy proved to have broken the dry patch, as Beyonce has finally become the Album of the Year award winner with her eighth studio album, 'Cowboy Carter'.
While her win has left most netizens ecstatic, a section cried foul as they claimed in giving Beyonce the Album of the Year, the Recording Academy robbed Taylor Swift of her claim to the prestigious award.
Beyonce wins big at 2025 Grammys
The Album of the Year competition at the 67th Annual Grammy Awards was stiff, with stars like Billie Eilish, Taylor Swift, and Sabrina Carpenter contending for the same.
While Andree 3000’s ‘New Blue Sun’, Carpenter’s ‘Short n’ Sweet’, Charli XCX's ‘Brat’, Jacob Collier’s ‘Djesse Vol 4’, Eilish’s ‘Hit Me Hard and Soft’, Chappell Roan’s ‘The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess’ and Swift’s ‘The Tortured Poets Department’ were competing for the top honor, it was Beyonce’s ‘Cowboy Carter’ that took home the top honor.
The 'Formation' hitmaker previously lost the accolade to Swift in 2010, Beck in 2015, to Adele in 2017, and to Harry Styles in 2023.
Beyonce was presented with the award by the members of the Los Angeles Fire Department, as her 13-year-old daughter Blue Ivy Carter joined her on stage.
Getting emotional, Beyonce acknowledged that she felt "honored," and added, "It's been many, many years and I just want to thank the Grammys, every songwriter, every collaborator, every producer, all the hard work," per Sky News.
The 'Texas Hold ‘Em’ singer dedicated her award to the first commercially successful Black female artist in country music, Linda Martell.
Earlier in the night, Beyonce also bagged the Best Country Album award for 'Cowboy Carter'.
Receiving the award from Swift, the 'Crazy in Love' singer shared that she was "still in shock" after winning the prize.

Beyonce, whose surprising reaction to being named the winner of the Best Country Album award has since gone viral, said in her acceptance speech, "Wow, I really was not expecting this. I want to thank God that I'm able to do what I love after so many years."
"Genre is a code word to keep us in place as artists, and I just want to encourage us to do what we're passionate about," the 'Lemonade' star added.
Later on the red carpet, when the musician was interviewed by Entertainment Tonight, she choked up saying it was a "very surreal" moment receiving the honor after working hard for 25 years.

Beyonce’s big win also came after her husband, Jay-Z, shaded the Recording Academy for not awarding her the AOTY in the past.
Reflecting on the matter, Jay-Z said, "I don't want to embarrass this young lady, but she has more Grammys than everyone and never won album of the year. So, even by your own metrics, that doesn't work."
Internet divided over Beyonce's Album of the Year win
While a section of netizens was left ecstatic at Beyonce's maiden Album of the Year win, others felt that Taylor Swift deserved it for 'The Tortured Poets Department'. The 'Lover' hitmaker has won the accolade four times.
One fan gushed, "They had taylor swift giving beyonce the grammy for best country album & then she later snatched the aoty too. this one’s for you renaissance!!"

Someone else conjectured, "Jay Z saying his his wife deserved to win AOTY last year at the #GRAMMYs then Beyoncè ends up winning the year after isn’t weird to y’all? Especially since the album kinda flopped and there were better albums that deserved it more…"

"The logic that Jay-Z paid for Beyonce's AOTY when Taylor Swift has 4 and is unquestioned is absolutely microaggressive and racist. Beyonce was robbed of AT LEAST 2 of her 4 AOTY nods," noted another diehard Beyonce fan.

Someone else added, "It would’ve been amazing to see Taylor Swift win her fifth AOTY with TTPD. But, Cowboy Carter is a beautiful reinvention of country music by a musical legend. Congratulations, Beyoncé!"

Everyone was, however, not entirely happy with Beyonce's win, as one wrote, "Taylor was robbed btw There is no way in heaven that beyonce deserve that award when taylor is a generational talent today."

There is no way in heaven that beyonce deserve that award when taylor is a generational talent today 💀
"We both know that Taylor or Billie deserved it more," added another person.
Another Swiftie declared, "Taylor snubbed because Jay Z bought the award."
