LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Beyonce has emerged as one of the highest gainers at the 67th Grammy Awards with double wins for her ‘Cowboy Carter’ album.

Beyonce ventured into country music last year with her ‘Cowboy Carter’ album which celebrates the Black roots in country music, reports BBC

However, while the 43-year-old pop star took home the Best Country Album award at the Grammys on Sunday, February 2, several country music fans were left fuming. They claimed that while awarding the ‘Texas Hold ‘Em’ singer, the Grammys left several country singers - including Lainey Wilson, Chris Stapleton and Kacey Musgraves - in the dust.

Beyonce wins Best Country Album much to her own surprise

The segment for awarding the Best Country Album happened to be one of the most momentous segments of the evening. From Taylor Swift handing over the honor to Beyonce to the ‘Single Ladies’ hitmaker’s surprised reaction at getting named, the short segment wasn’t lacking in any high points.

Quite notably, Swift, who competed against Beyonce for the Best Album Award (which the ‘Halo’ hitmaker eventually won), presented Blue Ivy's mother with the Best Country Album award during the 67th Grammys.

For the coveted honor to her debut country album, the ‘Crazy in Love’ singer competed against Post Malone’s ‘F-1 Trillion’, Kacey Musgraves’ ‘Deeper Well’, Chris Stapleton’s ‘Higher’ and Lainey Wilson’s ‘Whirlwind’, as reported by ABC.

With several other country stars dominating the list, the win came as a surprise not only to the Beyhive but also to the star herself.

In a moment that quickly went viral on the internet, Beyonce was caught off guard as she looked surprised when her name was announced by Taylor Swift.

As the singer was left stunned, she did not forget to acknowledge her surprise while accepting the award.

Taking to the stage, Beyonce admitted, “Wow, I really was not expecting this," before thanking "all of the incredible country artists" who had voted for the prize.

Her latest achievement in country music came five months after she was snubbed at the Country Music Awards, even though her ‘Texas Hold ‘Em’ track became the number one hit on the Hot Country Songs chart. Beyonce's 'Cowboy Carter' album got zero nominations at the 2024 CMA Awards.

Internet slams Grammys for snubbing Lainey Wilson and others for Beyonce

While Beyonce winning the Best Country Album award at the 67th Grammys came as a pleasant surprise to the Beyhive, everyone did not harbor the same excitement. In fact, several country music lovers took to social media to voice their anger against Beyonce's win as they felt it should have gone to Lainey Wilson or Chris Stapleton.

One user said, "The #GRAMMYs   are bulls**t. Out of Chris Stapleton, Post Malone, Kacey Musgraves, Lainey Wilson, and Beyonce, Beyonce had the best country album????? What. The. Actual. F**k???"

Someone else agreed with the previous user's point, saying, "Exactly….what a joke. Judges sold out country music!"

Another netizen chimed in, "Posty and Beyonce shouldn’t have even been there hardly country and not good music."

"How does #Beyonce win Best Country Album of the Year for Cowboy Carter over Lainey Wilson, Chris Stapleton and Post Malone?" asked someone else, before penning, "COWBOY CARTER IS NOT A COUNTRY ALBUM! It’s a bad pop album. Beyonce is talented, but she should not accept this award. This is a travesty! #GRAMMYs."

Another fan directly termed Beyonce's win as a "robbery", penning, "Beyonce winning best country album over chris stapleton and post malone is this years biggest robbery. #grammys #GRAMMYs #Grammys2025 #countrymusic."

"On what planet does Beyonce beat out Chris Stapleton and Lainey Wilson for best country album. Give me a break!!" vented out someone else.

Another displeased user ranted, "Not gonna lie i’d be so pissed if i was a full time country artist like kacey and lainey consistently making beautiful albums just for beyoncé to win bc she saw country was going popular and hopped on the bandwagon. like let’s be so it wouldn’t have won if it wasnt for her name."

"Kacey Musgraves and Lainey Wilson worked their a** off to make it big in the Country Music industry; a feat that is incredibly hard for women," mused a social media user, before noting, "They did it just for it to be snubbed by Beyonce, who only won because of pop listeners. #STOLEN."

"The Grammys robbed Lainey Wilson and gave her Grammy to an undeserving Beyonce," a comment read.

A fan noted, "Love me some Beyonce but Lainey Wilson shoulda won #GRAMMYs."

"Beyonce is not country. So stupid Chris Stapleton or Lainey Wilson should've won," declared another unimpressed user.

"I am a Beyonce fan…," shared a user, before observing, "I love her music & have since Destiny’s Child. But, she did NOT deserve to win Country Album of the Year. It should’ve been either Lainey Wilson, or Kasey Musgraves."

"Post Malone or Lainey Wilson should’ve won and the fact that Beyonce won from a barely country album over the other options is INSANE," declared a disgruntled country music fan.
