LOS ANGELS, CALIFORNIA: Pop icon Taylor Swift and Beyonce shared an awkward embrace on stage as the 'Crazy in Love' singer won the Grammy award for Best Country Album for 'Cowboy Carter'.

Swift, who herself was nominated for six Grammys, did the honor of awarding Beyonce with the Grammy. The 'Single Ladies' singer also became the first Black woman to win the award at the Grammys.

During the award ceremony, Taylor Swift opened the envelope to reveal the winner as she gave a big smile and announced 'Cowboy Carter!'

Interestingly, Beyonce appeared shocked after realizing she had won the award, and as she accepted the Grammy from the 'Love Story' singer, the two exchanged a rather awkward hug and laughed.

Beyonce then gave a speech and said, "Wow, I really was not expecting this" and thanked "all of the incredible country artists" who had voted for the prize.

Notably, Beyonce not only won the Best Country Album but also went on to bag the award for Album of the Year for 'Cowboy Carter'. With the win, Beyonce became the first Black woman to clinch the top prize in the 21st century.

After she was presented the award by the members of the Los Angeles Fire Department, the songstress said in her speech, "It’s been many, many years. I want to dedicate this to Ms Martell" while referencing Linda Martell, who became the first Black woman to play the Grand Ole Opry.

Notably, Taylor Swift and Beyonce have had a quiet friendship sharing mutual respect for many years, according to Harper Bazaar.

During the 2009 VMAs, when Kanye West interrupted Swift during her acceptance speech to advocate for Beyonce, the 'CUFF IT' singer said later onstage, "I remember being 17 years old, up for my first MTV Award with Destiny’s Child, and it was one of the most exciting moments in my life. So, I’d like for Taylor to come out and have her moment."

Beyonce also supported the pop icon at the premiere of her Eras Tour concert film in 2023.
