LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Many Beyonce fans are upset that the singer's hit album 'Cowboy Carter' was left out of this year's CMA Awards nominations, and her father, Mathew Knowles, is spearheading the disappointment against the snub.

The 72-year-old record executive mentioned racial issues following the country album, 'Cowboy Carter', receiving zero nominations and explained why the body of work did not receive much love from voters.

Mathew Knowles says 'White and Black' led to Beyonce's 'Cowboy Carter' CMA Awards snub

According to Daily Mail, notable categories such as Single of the Year, Song of the Year, Album of the Year, and Female Vocalist of the Year overlooked 'Cowboy Carter', which debuted at the top of Billboard's Top Country Albums chart this year.

Beyonce's father Mathew Knowles explained that voters are "showing it still comes down to White and Black," even as 'Cowboy Carter' debuted at the top of the Billboard 200 albums chart.

"There’s more White people in America and unfortunately they don’t vote based on ability and achievements. It’s still sometimes a White and Black thing," he said in an interview with TMZ.

Despite not labeling CMA voters as racist, Mathew stated that his daughter's rejection "speaks for itself".

He clarified, "In America, there’s no accountability for people not being accepting of other cultures."

The protective father, who oversaw Beyonce in the past, claimed that the "current state of American culture" is the reason why there are not many nominations.

As per Daily Mail, Beyonce initially hinted at her eighth album during the Super Bowl in February 2024. She opened with two unexpected hits, the poignant ballad '16 Carriages' and the banjo-driven 'Texas Hold 'Em.'

The entire album was released in March and featured a number of A-list artists on its 27 tracks. Beyonce became the first Black woman to debut at the top of Billboard's Top Country Albums chart with the track 'Texas Hold 'Em'.

Though Beyonce was snubbed at the 2024 CMA Awards, Shaboozey—who appears on 'Cowboy Carter'—is a nominee for Single of the Year and Best New Artist for her song 'A Bar Song,' per Us Weekly.

Internet reacts as Mathew Knowles' hints at race behind Beyonce's CMA snub

Several online users responded to Beyonce's father Mathew Knowles' remarks as soon as they appeared on social media.

One X (formerly Twitter) user wrote, "Maybe, just maybe, the music wasn't it. Gave pretty much pop music vibes! But it's also true at the same time."

A second user added, "It was not a country album. Stop the propaganda and race baiting."

A third user remarked, "Always playing the race card," while another noted, "Oh wow... Now it's all about race? Was it meant to be a full Country Album though?"

Another added, "Shaboozey was nominated. It’s not a racially based decision. CMA didn’t care about whatever music label “donation” they were given in exchange for the nomination."
