WASHINGTON, DC: President Joe Biden recently held a tense Zoom call with numerous moderate Democrats, which reportedly turned out to be "even worse than the debate," according to multiple sources.

In the call, which took place less than an hour before the assassination attempt on Donald Trump, the incumbent repeatedly lost his train of thought and appeared dismissive of the Democrats’ concerns regarding his 2024 reelection campaign, particularly in light of his poor performance in the CNN debate, as per a Puck report, published on Wednesday, July 17.

Joe Biden was reportedly unable to present a campaign strategy while on a Zoom call with fellow Democrats

One person who was on the call expressed frustration, saying, "The call was even worse than the debate. He was rambling; he’d start an answer then lose his train of thought, then would just say ‘whatever.’ He really couldn’t complete an answer. I lost a ton of respect for him."

Another source, a member of Congress, echoed this sentiment, adding, "The president was rambling, dismissive of concerns, unable or unprepared to present a campaign strategy."

The assassination attempt on Trump at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania on Saturday, essentially halted Democrats from leaking details of the call and publicly opposing Biden. A source explained, "Had the assassination attempt not occurred an hour later, I imagine 50 people on that Zoom were ready to come out publicly against him."

In one particularly heated moment, sources recalled Biden lashing out at Rep Jason Crow (D-CO) when asked about the importance of national security to voters.

According to a recording of the call, Biden said, "First of all, I think you’re dead wrong on national security. You saw what happened recently in terms of the meeting we had with NATO. I put NATO together. Name me a foreign leader who thinks I’m not the most effective leader in the world on foreign policy. Tell me! Tell me who did something that you’ve never done with your Bronze Star like my son."

The president ended the Zoom call just after 5 pm, informing his fellow Democrats that he had to go to church.

In response to the criticisms, the Biden campaign has pushed back against the notion that the president was rambling throughout the call, as reportedly by the New York Post.

A campaign official stated, "Just in the past week, the president has met with Democratic leaders in both chambers and numerous congressional groups to solicit their feedback and answer their questions. Engagement with House and Senate members is ongoing, and the campaign will continue to have candid and robust conversations with congressional offices."

Internet slams Joe Biden over details of tense Zoom call

Joe Biden sparked widespread mockery after reports of the rambling Zoom call came to light.

"What an absolute mess," wrote a person and another said, "I guess President Biden can't seem to shake off that cold. Has he tried some NyQuil?"

"He’s turned into a real mumbly Joe. I can’t understand a word he says anymore. Mumble or shriek - those are his two modes of communication," remarked someone else.

An individual quipped, "His two modes are forgetful old man, and angry old man yelling. His campaign will be pure gold," as one more stated, "Let Biden in peace,he does not know it yet but the race is done."

New poll shows voters are apprehensive about Joe Biden's fitness to serve a second term

The latest revelations coincide with a new national poll conducted after the Joe Biden-Donald Trump presidential debate. As per the poll, nearly 80% of voters are concerned about Biden "not having the necessary mental and physical health to be a president for a second term."

The NBC News survey, conducted from July 7-9 among 800 registered voters, revealed that Trump leads Biden by 45% to 43% in a head-to-head race.

Despite the close matchup, the poll highlighted significant concerns among Democratic voters, with 62% wishing for a different candidate at the top of their party's ticket instead of the 81-year-old incumbent. Additionally, 79% of all voters expressed worry about Biden’s mental and physical capabilities.

In contrast, only 50% of respondents had similar concerns about Trump, who is 78 years old. However, 58% indicated they had major or moderate concerns regarding Trump potentially being found guilty by a jury in New York "on 34 felony counts of falsifying business records in a hush money case," as well as facing additional felony charges related to attempts to overturn the 2020 election.

The poll also explored a potential head-to-head matchup between Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris. With Harris being considered a possible replacement for Biden if he were to drop out of the race, the poll found that Trump leads Harris by 47% to 45%.
