LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Acclaimed rapper J Cole has found himself in hot water following the release of his surprise project, 'Might Delete Later' on Friday, April 5, as reported by TMZ.

The Dreamville Records founder is facing widespread backlash and accusations of transphobia across social media over lyrics on the track 'Pi', in which he collaborates with Ab-Soul and Daylyt.

The offending lines in question are: "Is you a demon or is that demeanor for the 'Gram? Tell us/They plead the fifth, I'm seeing hints of a trans fella. In cancel culture's vicinity, he's no killer, trust me/Beneath his chosen identity, there is still a p***y, period."

While the lyrics themselves have drawn widespread criticism, many fans believe Cole's remarks are aimed at fellow rapper Kendrick Lamar as part of a long-standing rap battle between the two artists.

On the track '7 Minute Drill', Cole appears to take direct shots at Lamar, rapping, "He still doin' shows, but fell off like The Simpsons. Your first s**t was classic/Your last s**t was tragic/Your second s**t put n***as to sleep, but they gassed it/Your third s**t was massive and that was your prime/I was trailing right behind and I just now hit mine/Now I'm front of the line with a comfortable lead/How ironic? Soon as I got it, now he wants something with me."

On his 2022 album 'Mr. Morale', Lamar addressed his past lack of understanding towards the LGBTQ+ community in the track 'Auntie Diaries', where he openly discussed accepting his transgender relative.

The ongoing rap feud between Lamar and Cole was reignited last month when Lamar fired shots at both Drake and Cole, though primarily targeting Drake, on his song 'Like That'.

Internet erupts with outrage over J Cole's transphobic lyrics

Cole's transphobic lyrics have sparked widespread outrage on social media. One X user expressed, "An artist as big as J. Cole shouldn’t be getting away with these weirdly transphobic lines anymore."

Another echoed similar sentiments, stating, "I can’t stand faux intellectuals. And maybe it’s J Cole’s fan base that put him on that pedestal but I’m over it. There’s absolutely no reason for a transphobic bar in 2024. It wasn’t even good. What was the reason, truly?"

A user lamented, "It's a damn shame for J. Cole to resort to transphobia in an attempt to make a point and possibly a diss to Kendrick's song about his trans relatives. This is lazy, bigoted nonsense. Cole's definitely not beating the faux-intellectual allegations.."

Meanwhile, another commenter pointed out, "J Cole using trans bars against Kendrick is not smart considering Kendrick had a whole song dedicated to his trans family members on his last album. He told us his Auntie is a man now & he popped off on the pastor for bothering his cousin… so? Hmm not very smart. Sad actually!"

One user exclaimed, "J. COLE YOU HAVE TRANS FANS AND YOU ARE LETTING THEM DOWN." Another user remarked, "We gonna look back at this one day and say 'Damn J Cole really went after a random trans man cause of a Kendrick diss.'"

One user noted, "J Cole being transphobic to bait Kendrick into a response because Kendrick made it clear he isn’t anti-trans in his last album is so sad to see from someone who claims to be so "conscious"."
