Bill Maher calls out 'loser' Democrats as he asks party leaders to 'look in the mirror'
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Following Kamala Harris' loss to president-elect Donald Trump, Bill Maher slammed Democrats during his latest 'Real Time with Bill Maher' monologue on HBO.
In a scathing critique, Maher labeled the Democratic Party as “losers” and urged them to reflect on their missteps, insisting that they need to reevaluate their approach after an embarrassing defeat.

Speaking about Kamala Harris' election loss, Bill Maher said, “My message to the losers: losers, look in the mirror."
“No? Well, maybe you should. That’s my feeling. Losers look in the mirror,” he added.
Maher’s comments come after months of his vocal support for Harris as he had previously predicted a victory for her, but as Donald Trump secured a second term, the comedian acknowledged that he “did not vote for the winner.”
Despite his disappointment, Maher accepted the election outcome, contrasting sharply with reactions from his fellow late-night hosts.
Bill Maher reflects on Democrats' blind spot
Throughout the campaign season, Democrats were confident in their chances against Donald Trump, yet Bill Maher believes that overconfidence was a critical mistake.
“For months, Democrats have been saying, ‘How is this even close?’ And they’re right, it wasn’t,” remarked Maher, according to Daily Beast.
“They could not conceive of a second Trump term, but they should’ve. When does America ever turn down seconds?” he asked.
He pointed out the hard reality of the election results, noting that Trump “ran the table” in key battleground states, winning North Carolina, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Nevada, and Arizona.
Maher also addressed an unexpected shift in voter demographics that contributed to Trump’s victory.
He acknowledged that Trump made significant gains among Latino, Asian, and Black male voters, securing nearly 9 million more votes than he did in 2016.
Bill Maher's warning for Kamala Harris before election
In a previous episode in October, Bill Maher had expressed concern over Kamala Harris’ waning support among Black male voters, warning that it was a troubling sign for the Democrats.
“This is not a good sign,” Maher commented, adding “when you have an African American candidate, you probably shouldn’t be having to shore up your support among Black men, but that’s what’s going on.”
While Maher maintained his characteristic irreverence and humor, vowing to keep “making jokes” despite the election outcome, his reaction stood in stark contrast to that of his late-night peers.
Jimmy Kimmel, visibly emotional, opened 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' with tears, describing Trump’s win as “a terrible night for everyone.”

Struggling to find words, Kimmel eventually signed off with, “there’s nothing [to say], goodnight everybody.”
Seth Meyers and Stephen Colbert took a more somber tone, with Colbert addressing his fans directly, “Hey there, how are you doing? If you watch this show regularly, I’m guessing you’re not doing great. Yeah, me neither."
