LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Hollywood insiders felt Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds' attendance at the 'SNL50: The Anniversary Special' was "not a good look."

An insider told Page Six that they believed the couple "should have sat this one out."

Insiders say Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds 'should have sat this one out'

On Sunday, February 16, Blake Lively and her husband Ryan Reynolds made their first red carpet appearance since the 'Gossip Girl' star filed her harassment lawsuit against her 'It Ends With Us' co-star and director Justin Baldoni.

An insider explained, “It’s very plausible that Justin’s legal team will use this public outing to defend Baldoni. Justin is taking this lawsuit in all seriousness and isn’t making a public mockery out of it.”

In addition to accusing Baldoni of harassment, Lively has claimed that he orchestrated a public smear campaign against her.

Baldoni, in turn, countersued Lively and her husband for $400 million, alleging defamation, extortion, and more—claims that the couple has denied.

During the 'SNL50' special, Reynolds made a lighthearted joke referencing the legal situation. When Tina Fey and Amy Poehler turned the spotlight on him and asked, “Ryan Reynolds! How’s it going?”, he replied, “Great! Why, what have you heard?”

A source told TMZ that the couple “were the talk of the entire evening” and that several stars actively “avoided them.” One insider who attended the afterparty allegedly heard someone even say, “Who told them to come?” after they saw couple mingling with guests.

Despite the controversy, another insider shared that Lively “was initially hesitant to attend the anniversary show but ultimately she’s glad she went and had a really nice time,” according to Page Six.

They further added, “Blake and Ryan have no regrets about making an appearance and they’re glad they showed up because they have nothing to hide and no reason not to.”

The couple stayed until the end of the night, even leaving the venue with Paul McCartney and his wife. According to the insider, several crew members asked to take pictures with Reynolds, which he happily obliged.

“Blake and Ryan were two of the last people to leave Studio 8H where ‘SNL’ is filmed,” the source went on to say. “They walked out with Paul McCartney and his wife, and a bunch of crew members asked to take pictures with Ryan which he happily did.”

Internet feels Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds' SNL 50 appearance, calling it a 'bad look'

After insiders claimed Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds shouldn't have attended the 'SNL50' anniversary special, many people on social media criticized their appearance.

Some users called the comedy bit “distasteful” and felt it gave a bad impression, while some suggesting the couple's presence only fueled the ongoing legal drama.

A social media user wrote on X, "They probably would have been okay just showing up and being there but not saying anything. The comedy bit was completely distasteful and weirdo behavior. Bad look all around."

Another added, "I think they thought it would put forward the image that they’ve done nothing wrong so why should they sit it out. "

One commentator remarked, "It was a terrible look."

"These 2 should face criminal charges! Stealing Baldoni’s movie, defaming him, false accusations of SH that has ruined his life & career is unforgivable and disgusting! @nbcsnl @AriEmanuel are enablers of Mrs without teeth! And btw #DeposeTaylorSwift," said another critic.

One person remarked, "Id say Lorne and SNL look worse for putting them on."

Another added, "It’s OBVIOUSLY not a good luck since they did write in that fanfiction of a lawsuit that they were traumatized (even their kids) to the point of affecting their every day life."
