Blake Lively praises Jason Kelce for his humorous criticism of 'Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants' magic
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: In a playful exchange, Blake Lively commented on the absence of real magic in her beloved 2005 film 'The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants'.
The discussion kicked off when NFL stars Jason Kelce and Travis Kelce expressed their views on the film during an episode of their podcast, 'New Heights'.
Jason, a former center for the Philadelphia Eagles, humorously voiced his frustration about the “lack of magic in the pants.”
Blake Lively playfully responds to Jason Kelce’s critique while clarifying pants' origin
In response to the podcast clip, Blake Lively took to her Instagram Story on October 18, acknowledging Jason’s critique. “@jasonkelce being a natural investigative journalist, sniffing out the hiding truth,” she wrote.
She elaborated on the origins of the famous pants, saying, “Author @ann_brashares shared with us when making the movie that she actually added the pants after the book was written because she was given the note to add a ‘magical element.' Mind you, this is when Harry Potter hit, so everyone was looking for magic in youth books.”
Apparently Jason’s movie critique was even more spot on than we thought 👀

Blake further explained the deeper significance of the pants, stating, “She used the pants as a tangible item to illustrate the sometimes inexplicable magic of the female bond. One that invisibly connects us, near or far. And then you have the Traveling Pants.”
However, Lively also acknowledged Jason's humorous observation that the jeans were more akin to “stretchy jeggings.”

She quipped, “Sisterhood of the Traveling Jeggings didn’t quite hit. Now it would be Sisterhood of the Printed Jean Pajama Bottoms. I’m here for it all.”
In 'Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants', Blake Lively stars alongside America Ferrera, Amber Tamblyn, and Alexis Bledel, depicting a group of childhood friends who stay connected through a shared pair of jeans, even as they follow different paths in life.
Jason Kelce questions the role of pants in 'Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants'
During the podcast, Jason Kelce voiced his confusion regarding the significance of the pants in the storyline.
“The pants really didn’t have much to do with the plot,” he remarked.
“I’m a little upset that the pants were the storyline. I see what you’re saying. I didn’t feel like they did a damn thing; I was like, ‘Listen, you don’t need the pants.' It was kinda just a reason for them to be in a club even though they had been friends.”
The guys really wanted to see some more magic out of those pants 😂

Despite his initial skepticism, it was Jason's wife, Kylie Kelce, who helped him understand the significance of the pants as a symbol of friendship.
“I guess I kinda get the pants,” Jason admitted.
“I wanted the pants to be more of a major part of it. I wanted them to actually have magic in some way. And when they didn’t and they were just a pair of jeggings that fit everybody’s shape, that was a little bit disappointing,” he added.
Despite their differing views on the pants, both brothers commended the performances in the film, especially Lively's portrayal of Bridget Vreeland, the athletic member of the group.
“She did absolutely wonderful as Bridget,” Jason noted, while Travis added, “Might have been a little biased, but I thought Bridget’s story was the most relatable and most fun.”
