LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Blake Lively opened up about her role and criticism surrounding her involvement in 'It Ends With Us', emphasizing that she didn’t take on the role "very lightly," as per Daily Mail

The 36-year-old actress has previously faced backlash for what some have called a "tone-deaf" press tour, accusing her of "trivializing domestic violence" while promoting the film as if it were a romantic comedy.

Blake Lively defends her role while making key lime pie

'It Ends With Us', adapted from Colleen Hoover’s bestselling novel, tells the story of Lily Bloom, played by Blake Lively, who finds herself in an abusive relationship with Ryle Kincaid, portrayed by Justin Baldoni.

Amid her rumored feud with Baldoni and the backlash, Lively took to YouTube, where she shared her family's Key Lime Pie recipe and discussed her recent work with Vogue.

The actress, who shares children James, Inez, Betty, and Olin with husband Ryan Reynolds, expressed her pride in the film.

Blake Lively made her comments while squeezing a lemon in a low-cut dress, joking that the footage would "end up on OnlyFans."

"It Ends With Us I am so proud of," Lively said.

"It was the most all-consuming film I've ever been a part of on camera and off camera. Because of that, it is so deeply personal to me. The book that Colleen wrote resonated with so many people for so many years. To take on a character and to step into a film that means so much was a great responsibility that I didn't take lightly," she said.

She then added, "I feel like this is gonna end up on OnlyFans, like me leaning over chest falling out, squeezing this lemon. This is not suitable for work."

Lively then quickly highlighted the importance of wardrobe in telling the story, stating, "I think that the wardrobe was a really key part of that storytelling and I'm really, really proud of it."

She added, "But I'm wearing like a ton vintage [clothing] and it's some of my [most] favorite wardrobe I've ever worn. It's just so expressive and eclectic and really gives you such a sense of the character."

Blake Lively's 'It Ends With Us' Q&A mocked as 'tone-deaf'

In early August, Blake Lively, Jenny Slate, and Isabela Ferrer joined author Colleen Hoover for a Q&A session to discuss 'It Ends With Us'.

However, the group faced criticism for appearing "light-hearted" instead of addressing the serious topic of abusive relationships.

The remark, combined with the overall tone of the chat, led to criticism from those who felt it was inappropriate given the serious nature of the film's subject matter.

Reportedly, viewers criticized the Q&A for its "light-hearted" tone, as Lively and the other women giggled while discussing topics like their dream jobs and zodiac signs.

Notably, the conversation did not address the film’s central theme of domestic violence, which led to further backlash.

In response to the backlash over her Q&A with Jenny Slate and Isabela Ferrer, Lively took to Instagram to address the issue more seriously.

She shared information and resources about domestic violence, including a hotline for victims, statistics, and other crucial details. "Everyone deserves relationships free of domestic violence," she wrote, aiming to raise awareness and provide support.
