Justin Baldoni felt 'hurt and sidelined' by Blake Lively on set of 'It Ends With Us' as rift rumors grow
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Behind the glitz and glamour of a $100 million blockbuster 'It Ends With Us' lies a story far less shiny.
Justin Baldoni, both lead actor and director of the film adaptation of Colleen Hoover's 'It Ends with Us,' reportedly found himself feeling "hurt and sidelined" while working on the movie, as per insiders.
'It Ends With Us' crew split into 'Team Blake' and 'Team Justin' due to their alleged rift
From the very first day, tensions simmered on set, with insiders revealing a growing rift between Justin Baldoni, 40, and co-star Blake Lively, 36.
"There were two camps on the film — team Blake and team Justin. This creative struggle set the tone for the negative experience behind the scenes and grew into them not speaking anymore," told a source to Us Weekly.
Tensions on the set of 'It Ends with Us' didn't just simmer—they boiled over.
The insider continued, "[Justin] was made to feel that his vision wasn’t as important as Blake’s, and it stifled the creativity on set."
The filmmaker reportedly took issue with Lively making changes in the script and wardrobe "often without consulting" him or his team, fueling his sense of being sidelined.
But the story doesn't end there.
A second source, however, insisted, "Any changes or input by Blake was to create the best film possible and [to] honor the book. Blake was a producer and worked closely with Colleen and other female team members on set. Without [Justin’s] input does not mean [she went] behind his back," as per Daily Mail.
A third source claims the 'Gossip Girl' alum "does not have a good opinion" of Baldoni.
Blake Lively felt 'uneasy' and 'fat-shamed' by Justin Baldoni during filming of 'It Ends With Us'
The revelation of Justin Baldoni feeling "sidelined" comes amid rumors that Blake Lively felt "fat-shamed" by the actor during the making of the film.
The tension between the duo reportedly hit a low point over a scene that required Baldoni to lift Lively into the air.
According to TMZ, Baldoni, who suffers from back problems, sought advice from a trainer before the scene.
The trouble began when the 'Jane the Virgin' actor allegedly asked about Lively's weight to ensure he wouldn't aggravate his injury.
When word of this reached Lively, she reportedly felt "fat-shamed" after welcoming her fourth child, Olin, with her husband, Ryan Reynolds, in February 2023.
But that wasn’t the only incident that left Lively feeling uncomfortable.
Sources claim that during the filming of a kissing scene, Lively believed Baldoni "lingered" longer than necessary, further straining their already tense relationship.
As these behind-the-scenes conflicts come to light, they could have lasting consequences.
Insiders hint that the hard feelings might jeopardize Baldoni's involvement in any future projects within the franchise, including a potential sequel based on Hoover’s follow-up novel, 'It Starts With Us'.
