Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively’s son Olin’s famous godfather has a ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ connection

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The identity of Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively's newborn son Olin’s godfather has been revealed, and it’s someone closely linked to Reynolds' latest blockbuster.

In a recent Variety interview about the making of 'Deadpool & Wolverine', director Shawn Levy disclosed he has taken on the role of godfather to the beloved couple's fourth child Olin.

At the premiere of 'Deadpool & Wolverine' on July 22 at New York City's David H Koch Theater, Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively revealed their fourth child's name was Olin, and soon afterward, Reynolds announced the gender of Olin during a touching conversation with Walking 4 Hope founder John Bell.

Reynolds and Lively are also proud parents to daughters James, 9, Inez, 7, and Betty, 4. Olin was born in 2023.

Shawn Levy let the news slip while discussing the film’s creative process, including the special cameos of Reynolds and Lively's children as alternate universe versions of 'Deadpool'.

Olin, for instance, lent his voice to a character known as Babypool.

Lively also made a cameo as Ladypool, Babypool’s mother, while Inez voiced Kidpool, and James played a screaming mutant.

Betty, though not in the film, was humorously credited as the 'Hugh Jackman wrangler'.

When Variety questioned, "Was it important to Ryan that his wife, Blake Lively, and their kids have cameos in the film?", Levy answered, "It just honestly was that they were available and always nearby. A lot of times, we would call people into our edit room and have them record something."

"Little by little, all of the Reynoldses started being a part of the movie, including their youngest," he explained. "As the proud godfather of Olin, that might be my favorite voice cameo."

For those unknown, Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds' good friend Taylor Swift has taken up the role of godmother to their four children.

Taylor Swift’s godmother status was officially confirmed around the same time as Olin's name reveal.

Shawn Levy previously shared with People that he and Reynolds have become "extremely close friends" through their collaborative projects, adding another layer of connection to this family affair.

In fact, Daily Mail reports suggest that Levy now lives just "half a block" away from Reynolds and Lively.

The Canadian director has formed a close friendship with the actor since they worked together in the 2021 film 'Free Guy', followed by the Netflix sci-fi hit 'The Adam Project'.

After the first 'Deadpool' film was directed by Tim Miller and the second by David Leitch, Levy took over the reins for 'Deadpool & Wolverine', reuniting with his friend Reynolds for the latest installment.

Before joining the 'Deadpool' franchise, Levy made a name for himself directing comedies like 'Night at the Museum' and 'Date Night'.

He also previously collaborated with 'Deadpool & Wolverine' star Hugh Jackman on the 2011 film 'Real Steel'.
