LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Beyonce has done it again - this time, making history at the 67th Annual Grammy Awards with her groundbreaking album, 'Cowboy Carter'. Queen Bey took home two Grammy Awards, including the night’s biggest honor: Album of the Year.

But it was her win for Best Country Album that really stole the show. The moment she heard Taylor Swift call her name, Beyonce’s reaction was pure shock and disbelief.

The 2025 Grammys — held at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California, on February 2 — proved to be a record-breaking night for the 43-year-old superstar. With 'Cowboy Carter', Beyonce finally clinched Album of the Year — an award she had been nominated for four times before but had never won, until now.

She also took home the award for Best Country Album, becoming the first Black woman to ever win in that category. With 35 Grammy wins, Beyonce is now officially the most-awarded artist in Grammy history. (She also holds the record for most nominations ever.)

It was a major night for Queen Bey, but no one seemed more shocked than Beyonce herself. Seated next to her husband Jay-Z and their 13-year-old daughter Blue Ivy Carter, Beyonce looked momentarily frozen when Taylor Swift announced her as the winner.

According to body language expert Darren Stanton, Beyonce’s reaction was a perfect example of genuine disbelief.

"I think looking at [Beyonce’s] reaction from last night, it came from a place of genuine shock, surprise, and disbelief," Stanton shared in his analysis for Betfair Slots, as quoted by Cheat Sheet. "She was a statue for a second, like a deer in the headlights. There was real genuine surprise. Her eyes went wide, her mouth dropped open, and she froze," Stanton added.

The expert explained that her facial expressions reflected deep emotion. "These micro-expressions can often suggest fear," Stanton noted before adding, "But she wasn’t scared. It was more a fleeting flash of emotion that suggests surprise and disbelief."

Beyonce had 'no arrogance, no pettiness—just pure gratitude' for award

Once she made her way to the stage, Beyonce’s acceptance speech was humble and did not bear any trace of entitlement.

Her "non-verbal reactions" came across as "very genuine, very passionate, and very humble when she delivered the speech," Stanton said. "There were no expressions of arrogance or a[n] ‘it’s about time’ attitude. People often use sarcasm to express this, but there was none of that," he said.

In other words, despite years of being snubbed in major categories, Beyonce took the win with grace and appreciation. "Her vocal tone remained level, and there were no signs of aggression, annoyance, or pettiness," Stanton continued.

The expert also pointed out a subtle but telling movement Beyonce made while holding her trophy. "When people hold things towards their heart, it is usually a non-verbal sign they are being genuine, and she kept moving the award towards her heart," he explained.

Billie Eilish tears up as Beyonce takes the stage

The emotional weight of Beyonce’s Album of the Year win was felt across the room—perhaps most notably by Billie Eilish, whose tears quickly went viral.

As Beyonce took the stage, cameras zoomed in on Eilish — who appeared visibly emotional, eyes glistening with tears. "In terms of Billie Eilish’s reaction, some people may have thought that she was crying because she didn’t win, but I think they were genuine tears of elation and pride that Beyonce had won," Stanton explained.

For Eilish and many other artists of her generation, Beyonce isn’t just a fellow nominee—she’s an artist they grew up idolizing.

"For most of the stars of this new younger generation, Beyonce is their icon—the biggest pop star of their childhood," Stanton continued. "Billie, obviously, has that empathy with Beyoncé. They were genuine tears of joy at the fact that she had finally won the Grammy," he said.

And for anyone doubting Eilish’s sincerity, Stanton pointed to her eyes. "You could see in her eyes in the close-up that there were no signs of sadness despite the fact she was crying. It was a clear look of admiration and pride," Stanton noted.
