PIERRE, SOUTH DAKOTA: In the race to become Donald Trump's running mate, South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem has undergone a striking transformation, mirroring the aesthetic favored by the former president's inner circle – most notably his wife, Melania Trump, as per New York Times.

From her early days in Congress with a simple layered bob haircut to an arguably glamorous style, Noem's appearance has evolved significantly over the years. As the MAGA movement gained traction after Donald's 2016 election victory, Noem adopted a new look that bore striking resemblance to Melania's signature style.

Noem's hair grew longer, styled with loose waves created by a curling iron, and her hair parting shifted to the center, resembling Melania's hairstyle.

This physical transformation, coupled with her recent controversial dental procedure in Texas, has sparked speculation that Noem is intentionally molding her appearance to align with the MAGA aesthetic.

According to Samantha N Sheppard, a professor of cinema and media studies at Cornell University, Noem's makeover appears to be a tactical move to position herself as "the perfect ornament for Trump."

This method of crafting political image traces back to the performative femininity seen in figures like Sarah Palin. Palin projected strength but also embraced traditional gender roles, which softened her image of empowerment.

Although Governor Noem often portrays herself as a grassroots cowgirl, she has also spoken the language of Donald on various occasions, indicating her full support for his vision. This suggests she's willing to fall in line with his expectations and adapt to fit the role he needs her to play, according to Sheppard.

Throughout his presidency, Donald placed great emphasis on appearances. He frequently likened his staff to characters straight out of a movie. His wardrobe predominantly featured colors inspired by the American flag. Reports also suggested that he preferred women to dress in a certain way.

A recent deep dive by The Daily Beast found that several women closely associated with Trump, including Melania, Hope Hicks, Margo Martin, and Noem herself, share similar physical characteristics.

Internet trolls Kristi Noem for her apparent MAGA transformation

The internet was quick to troll Noem for her apparent MAGA transformation. One X user remarked, "It’s just so gross that they all do this to themselves."

Another criticized, "Imagine, putting yourself through all those enhancements? Changes? Only to derail your career because you thought your base would think shooting a dog was cool. Perfect Karma. 10/10. No notes."

Another user speculated, "She’d probably lie and say she’s never had work done. She lies every time she opens her mouth and people that buy her book are ignorant!!" Someone else commented, "Sickening. Anyone who hangs out at Mar A Lago looks like this - botox binging."

Another user simply stated, "Waste of money. Didn't make her look any better." One user observed, "Just a redo of her physical appearance will do nothing. She is morally bankrupt." Another user expressed, "Honestly, Kristi Noem was a nice looking lady, before she did all that Trumpworld silliness to herself. She looks ridiculous, now."

A critique read, "That is amazing..... In a cheap, sleazy, vein, desperate kind-of-way."
