LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Brad Pitt has been "hurt" by Shiloh Jolie's choice to legally shed his last name, but is still hopeful about a reconciliation with his children, as per sources.

Shiloh was formally granted a name change from Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt to Shiloh Nouvel Jolie on Monday, August 19, three months after filing to drop her father's last name on her 18th birthday back in May.

Brad Pitt will be there for Shiloh and any of his children whenever they need him

Insiders revealed that the 'Fight Club' actor has accepted his daughter Shiloh Jolie's choice and has gotten used to his tense relationship with his children and ex-wife, Angelina Jolie.

"He knew this was coming and there is nothing he can do about it right now. It's sad but Brad's strained relationship with his kids and Angelina is just a way of life for him now," told a source to Daily Mail.

They added, "He respects Shiloh's decision. He loves her and no matter what happens, he is always only a phone call away. He will be there for Shiloh and any of his kids whenever they need, no questions asked. But it's up to them to make the next move."

Brad and Angelina first met in 2004 while working on the set of 'Mr and Mrs Smith', and they got married in 2014. They filed for divorce in September 2016 and have shared a turbulent relationship ever since.

According to a second source, the 'Troy' actor believes his children will get in touch with him after enough time has passed so they can reflect on the family split and recognize his significance in their lives.

They shared, "Brad feels in his heart that after all the dust has settled and the years have passed that he will get a fair shot at being a part of Shiloh’s life again."

"He knows that, with some of the other kids who are not biologically his children, they do not understand and may never allow him back into their lives," added the source.

They continued, "But Brad truly feels that with Shiloh, as well as Vivienne and Knox, that when this divorce is over, and the lawsuits are far behind them they will take a good look in the mirror and realize that their father is a part of them."

The 'Meet Joe Black' star is currently putting his anguish from his children's separation behind him and being hopeful that things will get better. Brad and Angelina's divorce is still pending.

"Brad accepts that Shiloh has made this decision and although it does hurt, he also believes that the time will come when she sees everything for what it is," concluded the tipster.

Brad Pitt and his children's tense relationship

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt share six children: sons Maddox, 22, Pax, 20, and Knox, 16, and daughters Zahara, 19, Shiloh, 18, and Vivienne, 16.

The 'Salt' actress' shocking 2016 divorce filing startled the celebrity community and upended their once-happy family.

From this point on, Brad's connection with his children began to deteriorate, and it seemed like they preferred to spend most of their time with their mother rather than him.

Shiloh decided to remove the "Pitt" from her name following what her attorney called "painful events" in his client's life.

Shiloh's request has reportedly been granted official court approval, allowing her to go by the name Shiloh Jolie, as reported by TMZ.

Pitt was apparently uninformed of her plans and shocked by her daring decision, but many fans weren't shocked considering the complexity of their father-daughter bond.

The 19-year-old Zahara also omitted the "Pitt" from her name when she was announced as Zahara Marley Jolie at her November induction into the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority at Spelman College in Atlanta.

It is also claimed that Maddox does not utilize "Pitt" for non-legal paperwork, per Hello! Magazine.

Furthermore, the youngest, Vivienne, omitted his last name from the Playbill for 'The Outsiders,' a play that she and her mother co-produced.
