Bruce Willis makes rare appearance at daughter Tallulah’s wedding amid dementia battle
SUN VALLEY, IDAHO: Bruce Willis, who was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia (FTD) in 2023, made a rare appearance at his daughter Tallulah Willis’ wedding to Justin Acee at the couple’s Idaho home on Saturday, August 8.
The intimate family celebration also featured a surprise performance from Coldplay’s Chris Martin, who serenaded the couple as they walked down the aisle, adding an unforgettable touch to their wedding ceremony.
Bruce Willis shares emotional wedding moment with Tallulah Willis
In a black-and-white photo shared by Vogue on Instagram on August 14, the 71-year-old actor wore trousers, a button-down shirt and a fedora while wrapping one arm around Tallulah’s shoulder and holding Justin’s hand.
The bride, whom Bruce shares with his ex-wife Demi Moore, rested her head on her father’s shoulder as the groom watched the special moment. After saying “I do,” the couple reflected on the day, including Martin’s surprise performance to begin the ceremony.
“The first line of the song was, ‘Tallulah and Justin, walking down the aisle,’” she recalled in the British Vogue interview.
Tallulah described the moment as particularly meaningful because she had deeply loved Coldplay since middle school and had chosen their song ‘A Message’ for her walk down the aisle.
“My mom pulled off something incredible by facilitating this surprise, this gift, and Justin and I started laughing out of pure bliss,” she recalled and added, “I will never forget that moment.”
The wedding took place in the backyard of the bride’s family home in Idaho, which she described as the place where she learned to “run free” and become the dreamer she is today. Tallulah said the property also holds significance for Justin after they spent so much time there together.
She wore a custom Balenciaga gown designed by creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli and worked with Moore’s longtime stylist Brad Goreski. She described the dress as meaningful because it represented her journey to her new husband and reflected the couple’s decision to choose each other every day.
Bruce Willis’ family supports him amid FTD battle
Bruce was initially diagnosed with aphasia before receiving an FTD diagnosis in 2023. A statement signed by the “ladies of Willis/Moore” described FTD as a cruel disease and noted that it is the most common form of dementia for people under 60.
The family hoped sharing his diagnosis would raise awareness and research, noting that there were no treatments for the disease at the time. Bruce shares daughters Mabel and Evelyn with his wife, Emma Heming Willis.
Emma has discussed the family’s caregiving journey and the importance of prioritizing her own health and brain health. In May, she revealed that the family was “doing well” and that Bruce was “supported and loved.”
Earlier this year, Emma revealed that Bruce had been moved to a second home because of the progression of his FTD. She described the decision as one of the hardest choices the family had faced, explaining that concern for Mabel and Evelyn influenced it because she did not want his condition to cloud their lives.
She also recalled that the girls had stopped having sleepovers and play dates and that the family was not inviting people over.
