LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Caitlin Upton has called out JD Vance for using her interview clip to mock his political opponent Kamala Harris.

The former Miss Teen USA runner-up's embarrassing onstage interview, in which she stumbled to answer, went viral at 2007 pageant. It was posted by JD Vance with caption, “I have gotten ahold of the full Kamala Harris CNN interview.”

What did Caitlin Upton say about JD Vance using her 2007 interview clip?

In a now-deleted X post, Caitlin Upton wrote, "It’s a shame that 17 years later this is still being brought up. There’s not too much else to say about it. Regardless of political beliefs, one thing I do know is that social media and online bullying needs to stop," reports Daily Mail.

CNN anchor John Berman mentioned to Vance that during a 2015 New York Magazine interview with Upton, she revealed that the attention from the clip had left her "very, very depressed" and made her "thought about committing suicide."

Berman then asked Vance, "So when you posted this last night, were you aware that the woman you are posting a picture of had contemplated committing suicide for the attention that it received?"

The Republican VP nominee said, "No, certainly not John and my heart goes out to her and I hope that she’s doing well," he said. Vance then admitted, "Look, I’ve said a lot of things on camera. I’ve said a lot of stupid things on camera."

JD Vance previous attack on Kamala Harris

JD Vance has attacked Kamala Harris in the past too. During his Senate race in 2021, he called the vice president and other prominent and Democrats "childless cat ladies." Furthermore, recently, he said that Harris "can go to hell" for criticizing Trump over the altercation at Arlington National Cemetery.

Harris, in her CNN interview, stated her "values have not changed" though she admitted a shift in her progressive stance on some issues like the Green New Deal that she adopted during her Democratic primary race in 2019 and 2020.

"I have always believed, and I have worked on it, that the climate crisis is real, that it is an urgent matter, to which we should apply metrics that include holding ourselves to deadlines around time," she told interviewer Dana Bash.
