CCTV captured Liam Payne’s tragic fall from hotel balcony, reveals journalist
BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA: An Argentinian broadcast journalist has reported that the dreadful incident of Liam Payne falling from his third-floor hotel balcony in Buenos Aires was recorded on CCTV.
The ex-One Direction singer tragically died earlier this month during his stay at the CasaSur Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He had been vacationing in the country and had attended a concert by his former bandmate Niall Horan with his girlfriend Kate Cassidy at the start of the month.
Journalist uncovers details of Liam Payne's tragic fall
According to Mirror, broadcast journalist Paula Varela has reported that footage indicates the 'Strip That Down' singer fell after fainting on the balcony, a detail that authorities have not disclosed.
The 45-year-old mother of two also stated on a well-known Argentinian TV show that a night worker at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel, who had formed a close bond with Payne, was central to an ongoing investigation.
The inquiry aims to determine who provided him with the drugs believed to have played a role in his death on October 16.
Paula made a statement on 'Socios del Espectáculo,' a program aired by the Buenos Aires-based television channel Canal 13, “There is footage that is not being released to the media with the balcony scene where you see that Liam faints and tragically because of where he is, falls from that balcony. If he had been beside his bed he would have fallen on his bed."
The journalist said, "It’s not that he jumped deliberately. This footage is in the official case files. There’s a lad who’s being investigated, he was working nights at the hotel. He struck up an excellent relationship with Liam. He disobeyed an order from the hotel management."
"What was the order he disobeyed? It was not to take anything into Liam’s room. Because of the good relationship he had with Liam he requested a car through one of these taxi apps we all use because Liam wanted something." she further added.
She concluded, "He did him that favour, a massive error because he’s being investigated, and they’re seeing what was transferred in that vehicle. It’s one of the things the investigators are looking at at the moment and obviously this hotel worker has been suspended. He’s a cherished member of staff, a good worker, but he disobeyed an order that could have proved fatal.”
Prosecutors believe Liam Payne was unconscious during his fall
Prosecutors stated after Liam Payne's death that they believed he was either semi or completely unconscious due to a substance-induced psychotic episode at the time of his fall.
Alberto Crescenti, the head of the state emergency medical system, confirmed that the singer fell into an internal courtyard.
In a statement to Argentina's Todo Noticias TV channel, Crescenti remarked, "A few minutes later [an] emergency team arrived and confirmed the death of this man who we later learned was from a musical group. He had injuries incompatible with life as a result of his fatal fall. There was no way to do anything."
The toxicology report indicated that the position in which his body was discovered, coupled with the injuries sustained from the fall, 'it is presumed that Payne did not adopt a reflexive posture to protect himself and may have fallen in a state of semi or total unconsciousness."
