LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Cheryl Hines hit back at Chelsea Handler after the 51-year-old accused her and her husband, Robert F Kennedy Jr, of selling a Los Angeles property worth $6 million in 2021 to her in a very “toxic” state.
Hines shared her side during an appearance on the ‘Tomi Lahren is Fearless’ podcast, as she questioned why Handler is now making allegations.
Cheryl Hines doubts Chelsea Handler's 'toxic' house story
She said, “You have to question the timing of it, because she bought this house five years ago and she's just now complaining about it, which is also, I don't know that she's getting a lot of sympathy from people.”
“She's buying a $6 million house. And talking about how she feels duped and that we tried to sell her a house that was, her word, ‘toxic,’ which also doesn't make sense. The story doesn’t really hold water,” The ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’ alum claimed.
Cheryl Hines claims she sent email to Chelsea Handler personally after selling house
Hines also revealed during the podcast that she herself reached out to the ‘This Means War’ actress after the deal was made between them.
“I did write her a personal note when she moved in, just saying how much we love the house. And I hope that she has a beautiful life in this house. And if you need anything, call me. And I left my number,” the 60-year-old stated, before adding, “So, I don't know, if we were trying to unload a toxic house on her, I wouldn't have left my number.”
The wife of the Secretary of Health and Human Services then went on to accuse Handler of “trying to get attention” and also asserted that “probably fun for her to make fun of” the 72-year-old politician.
“So, what are you going to do? She's trying to get a laugh, I guess, and some likes,” the ‘Bad Moms Christmas’ star noted.
Chelsea Handler called LA property bought from RFK Jr 'disaster'
Hines' response came after earlier in March, Handler in one of her episodes of ‘Dear Chelsea’ podcast slammed RFK Jr. “The idea that this guy is in charge of the health of our country when he didn't even have a proper foundation at his house,” she said.
The ‘Fun Size’ actress further shared that when a house inspector came to check the place, he informed her that the 'house is the most toxic environment,' and 'you cannot live here for at least two years.’”
“I'm not exaggerating any of this. It was a disaster, and I didn't know it going in because everything was, you know, under wraps,” Handler added.
