BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS: Chris Evans revealed that Scarlett Johansson came up with the idea for the original Avengers cast to get matching tattoos. Evans shared the detail during an interview at Comic-Con, where he also explained why one member of the group did not join the tradition.

Johansson, Evans, Robert Downey Jr, Jeremy Renner and Chris Hemsworth all got the matching tattoo, while Mark Ruffalo was the only one of the original Avengers who did not. Evans summed up the cast's unsuccessful attempt to get Ruffalo involved with a simple remark.

Evans confirmed during the Comic-Con interview that Johansson was behind the idea for the matching tattoo. The five actors who ultimately got the ink were Johansson, Evans, Downey, Renner and Hemsworth.

The group got the tattoo as a way of marking their time together in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and their work on 'Avengers: Infinity War'. However, Ruffalo did not join his fellow cast members.

Speaking about the tattoo, Evans explained why Ruffalo was missing from the group, saying, "We couldn't get Ruffalo."

The comment explained why the original Avengers cast did not have all six members with matching ink. Johansson's idea went ahead with five actors, while Ruffalo remained the lone holdout.

Mark Ruffalo was the only original Avenger who skipped the tattoo

Ruffalo later explained his decision during an appearance on 'The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon'. He said he was afraid of needles and joked that refusing to get the tattoo was his way of being rebellious.

"I'm going to be punk rock and not get the tattoo!" Ruffalo said.

That left Johansson, Evans, Downey, Renner and Hemsworth with the matching design, while Ruffalo opted out.

Johansson and Evans were the first members of the group to get the ink in New York. Their tattoo artist, Josh Lord, later traveled to Los Angeles so the other participating actors could get the same design.

The matching tattoo became one of the memorable details associated with the original Avengers cast, with Johansson's idea ultimately involving five of the six actors.
