Chris Hemsworth and Elsa Pataky slammed over newest addition to family: ‘No longer applauding stupidity’
BYRON BAY, AUSTRALIA: Chris Hemsworth and Elsa Pataky are celebrating the arrival of a new family member this week—an adorable German Shepherd puppy.
The 'Fast & Furious' actress, 48, shared the exciting news on Instagram on December 14, much to the delight of fans and fellow dog lovers, Daily Mail reported.

"Our new member of the family, a beautiful German Shepherd," Elsa Pataky wrote in the caption, alongside heartwarming images of herself cuddling the new fluffy member of their family.
The puppy hails from Capaill Coloured Shepherds, a Queensland-based breeder known for their "solid, healthy, purebred German Shepherds in delicious colors".

The breed’s price tag, based on estimates, averages between $3,500 to $4,000—making this pup quite the prized addition to the Hemsworth-Pataky clan.
The German Shepherd joined Elsa, Chris, their twin sons Tristan and Sasha, and daughter India at their sprawling Byron Bay estate.
The family’s $30 million eight-bedroom mansion sits on a massive 4.2 hectares of land in Broken Head, offering plenty of space for their new pup to roam and play.

However, Elsa Pataky's sweet announcement was quickly met with criticism.
Fans and animal rescue advocates took to the comments section to voice their disappointment over the decision to buy from a breeder instead of adopting a rescue dog.
“With so many puppies in shelters waiting to be adopted and she goes and buys a breed.... should you???!!!” one fan questioned.
Another user declared, “Fostering slavery subjected to animal breeding!!!”
A user echoed similar sentiments, writing, "I hope he was a rescue. Adopt don't shop."
One said, “We can't judge, it's precious precious... but I think q s should promote adoption above all else.”
“With all the respect in the world better adopt a piece of advice if you don't feel enough don't acquire a sn,” another person pleaded.
A follower remarked, "Elsa adopts, do not accept kennel, or breed dogs."
One comment read, "Do you want us to celebrate you for buying a dog? When do so many need homes? End of 2024 people no longer applaud stupidity for being famous!"
Another observed, "Nobody good, buys an animal with so many in the kennels 😢"
One person explained, "Shame on them should have the money they have and buy an animal instead of adopting it with homeless pets. Because of course, all they care about is that it's breed and looks pretty, not the animals themselves."

Kerrin Lee from Jades Dog Rescue NSW also weighed in on the controversy, telling Yahoo on December 16, “People are dumping and surrendering dogs in unprecedented numbers.”
She emphasized the importance of adoption, saying, “Adopting a dog from a pound or from a rescue will save one more dog from death. Thousands of unwanted dogs are killed every year. We always promote adopt don’t shop, but we also understand that not everyone wants to adopt a rescue dog.”
The Hemsworth-Pataky family’s journey to their idyllic Australian lifestyle began over a decade ago, though Elsa admitted she wasn’t initially convinced about moving Down Under.
“That was my deal with Chris,” she told Courier Mail. “I said I would move to Australia, but I wanted to live on a property, a farm, and have horses, and he knew that.”
And the sprawling property in Byron Bay certainly delivered on Elsa’s dream, complete with ample space for their horses—and now, their new pup.
Elsa, who is originally from Madrid, also opened up about her relationship with Chris, sharing candid reflections on their nearly 14-year marriage with three children, Tristan and Sasha, 10, and daughter India, 12.
“I think we all have the idea of this beautiful dream of a marriage and loving each other and it all being perfect, but it's much more work than you think,” she explained.
“It comes with so many challenges, but it's beautiful to grow into those challenges and learn about each other and how we change with the years and how we adapt to each other.”
Elsa added, “You can think from the outside that a marriage is perfect, but they all have their things and they all need a lot of work.”
The couple, who tied the knot in a spontaneous ceremony during a holiday in Australia in December 2010, will celebrate their 14th wedding anniversary on December 22.
