David Harbour finally responds to allegations in ex Lily Allen's 'weird' breakup album
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: David Harbour has finally addressed the allegations of infidelity made in his former wife Lily Allen's breakup album — ‘West End Girl’ — released in October 2025.
He called it “weird” and also claimed it “wasn’t my experience” during an interview with Variety.
Lily Allen accused David Harbour of extramarital affair in her album
The 41-year-old singer and Harbour married each other in 2020 but got divorced in early 2025. Months later, she released ‘West End Girl’ detailing the end of a marriage because of extramarital affairs and emotional manipulation.
She called her work “a mixture of fact and fiction” as in ‘4chan Stan’ she sings: “I think you're sinking, you're protecting a lie / And you don't want her thinking that you'd cheat on your wife / You're such a coward, you can't tell the truth / You love all the power but you're not even cute though, no, no, no.”
David Harbour says he can't say 'much more because it’s my private life'
Now, Harbour has responded to it for the first time, saying, “It was weird. I do believe that it is the privilege of every artist to use their experience to create art, and so I respect her for doing that.”
Continuing further, the ‘Stranger Things’ star stated, “I can’t really say that much more because it’s my private life. Even though a lot of people don’t allow me a private life, I value it.”
“And I also value the lives of the people that I interact with privately. I just won’t speak about that,” he added.
David Harbour respects Lily Allen's art
Harbour also refused to deny any allegations made by Allen in her album. He asserted, “Stories are complex, and that’s why I say I respect her creation of art to channel her experience. It wasn’t my experience.”
This came after last year, following the release of ‘West End Girl’, the London-born musician reportedly said about her album that she’s “tried to document my life in a new city and the events that led me to where I am in my life now.”
“At the same time, I’ve used shared experiences as the basis for songs which try to delve into why we humans behave as we do, so the record is a mixture of fact and fiction,” she added at the time.
Also, while speaking with British Vogue in 2025, Allen claimed that “there are things that are on the record that I experienced within my marriage, but that’s not to say that it’s all gospel. It is inspired by what went on in the relationship.”
