During an appearance on NewsNation's 'Dan Abrams Live' on Wednesday, September 18, Don Lemon discussed his political views and also emphasized his detachment from both major US parties.

“I’m not a Democrat. Not a Republican. I’m an independent,” he explained, adding, “I have political leanings that are both conservative and liberal, like most people.”

Don Lemon stands against Donald Trump’s misinformation

Don Lemon addressed his ongoing concerns about Donald Trump's rhetoric when asked about his stance on the former president.

The 58-year-old journalist, who was often critical of Trump during his tenure at CNN, expressed that his primary concern is with truth and honesty, not party loyalty.

“I’m a fan of the truth,” said Lemon, adding that he is simply “not a Donald Trump fan.”

He continued by accusing the Republican presidential candidate of continuously spreading false narratives, particularly about Democrats inciting violence.

“He has called for the joint chiefs to be executed, said Liz Cheney should face a military tribunal, and suggested Hillary Clinton should be dealt with by a ‘Second Amendment person,’” said Lemon.

Don Lemon's endorsement of Kamala Harris for president

When host Dan Abrams asked Don Lemon whom he supports for president, the news anchor said, “Do I support Kamala Harris? I will say this: I support democracy."

He emphasized that his decision to support Harris in the upcoming election was not driven by her party affiliation, but rather by her commitment to democratic values, reported The Hill.

Elaborating on his choice, Lemon said, “Am I particularly a fan of hers just because she’s a Democrat? No, but the only two people in this race who have a chance of winning are Donald Trump and Kamala Harris, and so I am on the side of democracy.”

Internet slams Don Lemon for declaring he's 'not a Democrat'

After Don Lemon shared that he is "not a Democrat" despite backing Kamala Harris in the presidential race claiming he supports democracy, netizens slammed the former CNN anchor's comments.

One user on X wrote, "@donlemon says he’s not a democrat lmao. What is he then a Marxist like Kamala? What a joke," and another added, "What is their version of democracy?"

"Trump was correct….again Don Lemon is truly the dumbest man on TV," a netizen opined, while someone commented, "He’s desperate for a job on a cable channel."

"Unfortunately, Don Lemon has his head stuck where the sun doesn't shine or is it just me?" an individual remarked.
